BOATER SAFETY ALERT:

Great River Hydro will be drawing down the water level in the Comerford Reservoir to 8 feet below its current elevation in preparation for maintenance work this upcoming Monday, 5/18.

Starting Thursday morning, 5/14, the water level will be gradually lowered to 8 feet below current level by Monday 5/18, after which point Great River Hydro expects to return the water level to normal by Thursday, 5/21.

If you are planning on recreating on the Comerford Reservoir between 5/14 and 5/21, please be advised that boat ramps on the water body might be unusable due to low water levels, and previously underwater hazards, like rocks and logs, could be present. Please use extreme discretion if recreating on the water during this time.

This drawdown is not anticipated to affect water levels in the Moore Reservoir.

Thank you for your consideration and please pass the word along to anyone you know who might be considering recreating on the Comerford Reservoir during this time.

This just in from the Town Clerk ~ MYSTERY SOLVED!

We are happy to share that the location of the missing headstones has been discovered. A descendant of Samuel and Esther Benton has tepped forward and engage McCormick- Whitco Memorials of Groveton New Hampshire to restore them. We're grateful for the care and dedication being shown to preserve these important pieces of local history.

The Waterford Sexton is looking for information about two gravestones that have recently been taken from the Lower Waterford Cemetery. These stones represent Samuel S. Benton who passed in 1857 and his wife Esther who passed in 1860.

If anyone has seen anything unusual or has information that could help, please reach out to the Town Clerk by phone or email. Even the smallest detail could make a difference.

We ask our community to keep an eye out and help us protect this important space. Let’s work together to ensure the cemetery remains a place of dignity and remembrance for all.

Green Up Waterford!

Saturday, May 2

The Green Up Hub this year is the Waterford Transfer Station. We will be there distributing bags no later than 8 am-noon on Saturday, May 2. Bags will be available on April 25 at the transfer station and next week at the clerk’s office.

If you do Green Up before May 2, feel free to email or text me updates as you do so, and let me know of roads that really need attention. Your input will help as we send crews out on Saturday morning. Keep in mind, Waterford’s 8th-grade class is collecting returnables to fund their class trip. Bottles may be left at the transfer station, the school or at Coles.

Don’t forget gloves, sunblock, and tick repellent.
Thanks for keeping our beautiful state of Vermont Green.
