Hurricane season is less than a week away, and earlier today, nearly 75 representatives from more than 35 agencies and departments attended the 2026 Hurricane Season Preparedness Workshop at the Lowndes County Emergency Operations Center. The US National Weather Service Tallahassee Florida, provided an update on the upcoming hurricane season, what it could mean for our area, and ways to prepare now.

This collaborative workshop is crucial for ensuring a coordinated response ahead of hurricane season, helping local, state, and federal partners align their plans, share resources, and strengthen communication to protect lives and property during potential storms.
