On this 250th Independence Day, I want to thank the Texas VFW and every Post across our state.

You’ve carried freedom’s cause long after you took off the uniform — from 1899 when the VFW was formed to today, with over 1.5 million members still serving veterans and families.

Your work preserves the memory of the fallen, cares for widows and orphans, and keeps patriotism alive in Texas towns like Lubbock and beyond.

If your Post is celebrating today — parades, flag raisings, cookouts, ceremonies — please share photos and videos here on Facebook and use so we can all see how Texas honors America 250.

Stand With Us!

The halls of Congress are long, but they are a lot easier to walk when we have the weight of a massive membership behind us. 🇺🇸

Right now, your VFW leaders are in Washington, D.C., fighting to ensure the benefits you earned aren’t treated as "negotiable." We are recently advocated against the latest court ruling that threatened to strip hard-earned VA benefits from our fellow veterans; "Mission Accomplished".

Here is the reality: Our voice in D.C. is only as loud as our membership numbers. When we speak, Congress looks at who we represent.

It’s time to get off the sidelines. Don't just watch the advocacy happen—be a part of it; because this is your fight too. We are waiting on you to join the ranks.

As we look toward the 2026-2027 term, remember that our greatest legacy isn't just what we do today, but how we prepare those who will follow us. A key part of your role as Post Commander is acting as a mentor and trainer.
To provide hands-on experience, we encourage you to allow your Post Senior Vice Commander to "take the gavel" and chair one of your upcoming meetings. Giving them the floor now ensures they have the confidence and experience to lead effectively when it’s their turn to serve.
Let’s lead by example and "Honor the Sacrifice" by strengthening our leadership pipeline.
