Communities in Schools - South Plains

Communities in Schools - South Plains Bridging the gap between home and school for students to succeed both in school and beyond since 1999 🌟 The five Communities in Schools basics:
1.

A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult;
2. A safe place to learn and grow;
3. A healthy start and a healthy future;
4. A marketable skill to use upon graduation; and
5. A chance to give back to peers and community. Communities in Schools - South Plains uses evidence-based programs and services that address the academic, non-academic, cognitive, and social and emotional factors that directly

affect students' ability to persist and be successful not only in school, but throughout their lives. Founded in Lubbock in 1999 and chartered by the national Communities in Schools office in 2000, Communities in Schools - South Plains has increased the number of children served from approximately 100 on three campuses in 1999-2000 to over 2,100 on 54 campuses during the 2015-2016 school year.

Brown Elementary's Kids Bank tellers spent the year building financial literacy skills, gaining hands-on experience, and learning alongside mentors through our partnership with Happy State Bank. We're so proud of all they accomplished this year! ✨

A total of 103 students from 31 schools came together to showcase the hard work, strategy, and problem-solving skills they've built throughout the year. We're so proud of every student who participated and grateful to Miller Elementary for welcoming us and serving as the home of this year's tournament! ✨
