In 1916, the citizens of Lubbock Texas demanded reliable and competitively priced electricity and they used the West Texas Pioneering Spirit, not looking to others to meet their needs. They created their own municipal electric company that became Lubbock Power and Light. In addition to providing electric service, Lubbock Power and Light also provides meter reading, billing, collection and customer service for water, sewer, storm water and solid waste services from the City of Lubbock Utilities.
