Community Youth Development 79415 Fifteen ZIP codes with the highest incidence of juvenile violent cri

The Community Youth Development Program was established in 1995 with funds authorized by the 74th Legislature for the purpose of reducing high juvenile crime areas in the state of Texas. Fifteen ZIP codes with the highest incidence of juvenile violent crime, as determined by the CYD Interagency Planning Workgroup, were identified and funded to include the 78207 ZIP code in the San Antonio area. As

a community based prevention program, CYD is intended to serve youth up to 17 years of age, who have not been involved in the juvenile justice system, but who are at-risk of becoming involved. Youth whose cases are pre-adjudicated, informally adjudicated, or whose adjudication has been deferred are eligible for services. The CYD Program serves as a flexible and powerful tool for supporting positive options for youth and includes the following services:

Youth Based Curriculum Activities
Family Based Curriculum Activities
Family Focused Services
Recreational Services
Academic Support Services
Life Skills Classes
Mentoring
Youth Leadership Development
Youth Advisory Committee Business
These services are provided without regard to youth or family income, are completely voluntary, and are non-fee based.
