One more time for my District 4 friends!

If you missed early voting, Runoff Election Day is THIS Saturday, August 1! This is your last opportunity to make your voice heard and help choose the next District 4 City Council representative. Turnout has been low, so every vote will count!

I encourage you to get out and vote. In my opinion, Tim Green is the right person for the job.

As many of you already know, I have made the decision to step down from my position on the Lubbock City Council due to the increasing demands of caring for our disabled son, Barron. Like many parents, I believe family must come first. At this stage of life, my time and attention need to be focused at home.

While this chapter is coming to a close for me, District 4 now has an important opportunity to choose its next representative. The Special Election for District 4 will be held on June 27th, with Early Voting running from June 15th through June 23rd.

I am proud to endorse Tim Green for the District 4 seat. Tim is a lifelong Lubbock resident, former firefighter, homebuilder, and business owner who understands our community and is committed to practical leadership and responsible growth. I believe he will serve District 4 with dedication and a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing our city.

As a general rule, if you live south of the Loop between Slide Road and University Avenue, you are more than likely in District 4. (some neighborhoods inside the loop also)

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving you over the past two years. It has been an honor.

Friends and neighbors,

I wanted to provide you with an update on Zoning Case 3548, which involved a proposed A.I. data center.

The applicant has officially withdrawn the zoning request while it was under review by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The case did not advance to City Council. According to the applicant, the withdrawal was made so they can assemble a more detailed package and potentially submit a new zoning request in the future.

I want to acknowledge and thank everyone who reached out. Many of you raised serious and reasonable concerns, particularly regarding water usage, noise, power demand, potential impacts to electricity costs, and the very limited description of what the facility would actually entail. Those concerns were not fully addressed in the materials presented to Planning and Zoning.

While I support responsible business growth in Lubbock, including data centers and advanced technology projects, developments of this scale must be clearly defined, transparent, and accountable. Before I could support a project like this, it would need to provide thorough, concrete answers to the concerns raised and demonstrate how it would responsibly integrate with our city’s infrastructure, utilities, and surrounding neighborhoods.

At this time, there is no active zoning request for this project. If the applicant chooses to return, it would be treated as a new case, starting again with Planning and Zoning and allowing for public input before any consideration by City Council. I will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed.

Thank you for your engagement and for advocating for the long term interests of our community. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or additional thoughts.

Respectfully,

Brayden Rose
