WEEK 6 Leadership Lab

Another week of putting leadership into action.

This week, our GMC cadets stepped into leadership roles during Group Leadership Projects, gaining hands-on experience with communication, decision-making, and leading their teams toward a common objective.

C/Hallan also briefed our AS300s on Memorandums, LORs, Endorsements, and other essential Tongue and Quill topics.

Week 5 Leadership Lab

This week, our cadets took another step toward developing their leadership and decision-making skills.

C/Contreras briefed the detachment on warfighting assets that our GMC cadets will utilize later this semester during the Capstone Group Leadership Project (GLP).

Cadets also received an overview of the Group Leadership Project, including expectations, ex*****on, and how their performance will be evaluated using AFROTC Form 2.

Our AS100s and AS250s put their leadership skills into practice by completing their first GLP and gaining firsthand experience with what to expect moving forward.

Happy 4th of July from Detachment 820 🇺🇸

As we celebrate 250 years of independence, we must never forget the men and women who came before us. They paved the way for the United States to be the great country it is now. As we celebrate this day with our families and friends, we remember the fallen who gave their lives for our freedom.

Thank you to those who have served, are serving, and will serve in our United States Armed Forces. Your sacrifices are not in vain or unnoticed. The legacy you have left and are creating is the motivation of the men and women who will serve alongside you and after you.

☀️SUMMER ODT SPOTLIGHT☀️

Rising AS400, C/ Amelia Ball, just completed two weeks at USAFA learning how to jump out of an airplane through the Airmanship 490 course.

“I am thankful for this opportunity to meet people, build relationships, and skydive. It’s a super cool experience and no other feeling is like that of falling through the sky!” -C/Ball

Congratulations C/Ball on completing three successful jumps and the entire DE Go class for putting in the hard work over these two weeks! ✈️

☀️SUMMER ODT SPOTLIGHT☀️

Rising senior, C/ Jack Folsom, had the incredible opportunity to participate in FERL (Field Engineering and Readiness Laboratory), an ODT (Officer Developmental Training) at USAFA (United States Air Force Academy)!

He learned “how to survey using an auto level, total station, and gps.” C/Folsom also had the opportunity to learn about water treatment, storage, and transport, in addition to concrete and asphalt mix design, testing, and application.

Detachment 820 is excited to see C/Folsom grow and learn applicable practices that will help him later in his Air Force career! Wreck ‘Em! ✈️

C/Ball and C/Wingler had the opportunity to be CTOs at Joint Cadet Leadership Course (JCLC) last week at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. They served as the Deputy Group Commander and as the Dark Gray Squadron Commander.

They were tasked with mentoring CTIs, correcting cadets, assisting in drill, and ensuring a smooth week of effective and efficient training.

Thank you JCLC for having C/Ball and C/Wingler! They will not soon forget the experience, lessons, or people they met!

This past week, Det 820 cadets had the fantastic opportunity to be Cadet Training Officers (CTO) for Cadet Senior Leadership Camp (CSLC) at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX.

As CTOs, these cadets lead and trained over 100+ high school AFJROTC and AJROTC cadets in team building, drill, and how to elevate performance.

Det 820 looks forward to next summer!! Thank you to all who helped make CSLC a huge success!!

Huge thank you to our PA Team this semester! 👏

Their responsibilities included: documenting PT & LLAB, organizing AFJROTC visits and recruiting efforts, planning Flight/Squadron competitions, sending out weekly newsletters, and controlling all Det 820 social media accounts.

C/Maj Ball & C/Maj Zapata (now 2nd Lt Zapata) loved heading up the PA team and working to increase Detachment morale. They loved getting to know the GMC PA’s and push out their visions! 🙂

The GMC PA’s from each flight did a fantastic job!
