Idalou to Lubbock. Abernathy to Lubbock. Wolfforth to anywhere. Every drive out here has a stretch with nothing on it, and that's where a car decides to quit in January.

Today's small thing: one bag that lives in the car from now until spring.
• A blanket and a spare hat and gloves
• Water and a few snacks that won't freeze solid
• A phone charging cord and a flashlight
• Jumper cables

Keep the tank at least half full from here on out. Remember September's first small thing? Text someone your route before you drive out. Still counts.
What's the emptiest stretch on your drive? Name the road in the comments.
