Yesterday I was sworn into office for a second term, and I remain grateful for your trust and faith as we continue moving Lubbock in the right direction.

Serving as Mayor is a tremendous honor. I am blessed to serve the friendliest citizens in the world. I look forward to the next two years and I am forever grateful for the amazing support I have received from my family, friends, and entire community.

Council Members Christy Martinez-Garcia, David Bruegel and Dr. Jennifer Wilson were also sworn in, and I applaud their dedication and service to Lubbock, and look forward to working with them the next two years.

Today marks the anniversary of the May 11, 1970 tornado that forever changed the City of Lubbock.

As we remember those who lost their lives and the many families impacted, we also reflect on the resilience and determination that brought our community together during one of the most difficult moments in our city’s history.

My thoughts and prayers are with Chad Hasty and his family. Chad was a powerful voice in West Texas and a powerful voice for West Texas. The Chad Hasty Show was a common and comfortable presence in our homes, and his knowledge, conviction and passion will be greatly missed.

Mayor McBrayer on George Strait Concert Weekend

"Lubbock is excited to welcome country music legend and superstar George Strait to the music capital of West Texas and the home of Buddy Holly. Thanks to Kirby Hocutt and Texas Tech for making this happen for George's army of music fans from all over this region. Two nights with George is top level entertainment for Lubbock and West Texas. Just as important, it will be an incredible boost to our hotels, restaurants and businesses and provide a real boon for our local taxpayers. We can expect to host more events like this as promoters and entertainers see Lubbock in a new light as the premier entertainment destination of West Texas."

🌎Happy Earth Day, Lubbock!🌎

Behind every storm, there's a team working to keep our city safe and clean. Our Stormwater Compliance team manages drainage systems, reduces flooding, and protects our water quality; keeping our pollutants out of our playa lakes and waterways.

When it rains, stormwater can carry grass clippings, fertilizer, trash and debris into our storm drains, untreated. That's why what we do at home matters!

You can help:
- Don't blow your grass clippings into the street
- Use safe fertilizer, use it sparingly and sweep up excess
- Don't litter
- Pick up pet waste

Small actions make the biggest difference! Let's support the team that keeps Lubbock flowing. 💧🌎🌳
