At approximately 11:30 a.m. today, we were dispatched as mutual aid to U.S. 23 in Piketon to assist Scioto Township Fire Department on a working structure fire. Tanker 611 responded but was canceled prior to arrival on scene.

As a follow-up to our February 22nd announcement regarding the $50,000 award for SCBAs through the Small County Volunteer Fire Department Grant administered by the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of State Fire Marshal, we are pleased to provide an update on the project. After careful review of multiple proposals, CCFD selected Howell Rescue Systems as the vendor to complete the project. CCFD sincerely appreciates the support and efforts of everyone involved in making this grant opportunity possible. This funding will significantly enhance the safety and operational capabilities of our department and firefighters.
CCFD would also like to extend its sincere appreciation to Michael Philibin of Howell Rescue Systems for conducting the delivery training and instruction on the use and operation of the department’s new SCBAs.

We hosted the Pike County Firefighters Association monthly meeting last night at our station. Thank you to all who attended!

At 6:18 p.m. today, we were dispatched to the 4200 block of Camp Creek RD for a working structure fire. Tanker 611 and Engine 602 responded to the scene with a crew of eight and quickly extinguished the fire. The structure sustained minimal damage. Also assisting on scene was the Pike County Sheriffs Office and Portsmouth ambulance.

The Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Department extends our deepest sympathy to the family of Carl Weeter.

Carl’s service as a volunteer firefighter will not be forgotten. He was part of the fire service family, and we are grateful for the time and dedication he gave to this community.

We stand with you in this time of loss.

Carl Raymond Weeter, 91, of Waverly, Ohio passed away Monday, April 6, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born April 21, 1934 in Pike County, Ohio to the late Floyd Jackson Weeter and Zelma Olive Dunham Weeter. On December 1, 1957 he was united in marriage to Lillie Esther

At 1:12 a.m. this morning, (3/30), we were dispatched to the 100 block of Sunfish Creek RD in Newton township for a tree down blocking both lanes of traffic. Command 6 responded to the scene and cleared the roadway.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. today, we were dispatched to the 9000 Block of Camp Creek RD for a possible motor vehicle accident. Rescue 6 responded. No accident was found and Rescue 6 returned to service. Portsmouth Ambulance and the Pike County Sheriffs Office also responded.
