My name is Mike Crabtree and I am running for a fourth term to the Scioto County Board of Commissioners. I was born and raised in Scioto County. My opponent was not. I understand the challenges our community faces and am committed to continuing the battle here at home. I am a Northwest High School graduate and US Army Veteran having served in the 82nd Airborne Division. My wife Dianna and I have a
combined four children and 10 grandchildren. I have a professional surveyor’s license in both Ohio and Kentucky. I am also a licensed aircraft pilot. I am a member of the American Legion, Life Member of the DAV, Life Member of AMVETS, Member of the Peebles Masonic Lodge, York Rite Member of the Chillicothe York Rite Bodies, Member Scottish Rite (Valley of Columbus), Member of Alladin Shrine in Columbus, Ohio, Member of El Hasa in Ashland, Ky. And Member of Eastern Star in Lucasville, OH. I am a Life Member of the NRA. I have worked hard to fix Scioto County's financial problems. Working together with other office holders, the county is now in the best financial shape it has ever been in with a current 6 million dollar + carryover. We have balanced budgets and controlled spending. I have worked with my fellow commissioners to re-shape the county's healthcare plan, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars over 3 years while maintaining coverage for our employees. We purchased of the Courthouse Annex in 2015 saving the county hundreds of thousands in lease payments over the next decade. I helped lead the charge in 2014 to reorganize the Southern Ohio Port Authority which has helped to retain and create much needed jobs in our community. The commissioners support the Southern Ohio Port Authority each year and we are the single largest financial contributor to their mission of bringing jobs to our area. We have also contributed financially toward projects to maintain jobs and create more opportunities toward progress. I am strong in my support for law enforcement and our fire departments. As recent as 2016, the commissioners allocated $400,000.00 toward the purchase of a new Nex Gen 911 system for our county. We also continue the work of restoring the courthouse and recently finished remodeling and expanding the Scioto County Board of Elections and building a new Engineers office on the 4th floor. A new splash pad is being constructed using grant dollars for the children and families of our community. But, much work is left to be done. I have a vision for tomorrow and I need your vote!
