George County Regional Correctional Facility Celebrates Mississippi's First-Ever Path Home Way Grant Graduation Funded by SMPDD
Lucedale, MS – August 11, 2025 – The George County Regional Correctional Facility (GCRCF) proudly announces the graduation of five inmates from Mississippi's first-ever Path Home Way program, funded by the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District (SMPDD).
GCRCF served as the “guinea pig” for this inaugural grant and graduating class, setting the standard for what is possible through collaborative rehabilitation programs. The 16-week course began with ten students, but four were released before completion. One of those released has already secured employment at Bollinger Shipyard, turning his journey into a powerful testimony of second chances and hard work.
This success was made possible through the strong working relationship between Eric Richard, former Programs Director at GCRCF, and SMPDD. The Path Home Way program equips inmates with life skills, job readiness training, and mentorship—preparing them for successful reentry into the workforce and their communities.
"This isn’t just about earning a certificate; it’s about earning a future," said Terry Rogers, Warden. "Being the first facility to launch this program shows our commitment to giving inmates the tools to succeed after release."
GCRCF is looking forward to continuing both the grant and its partnership with SMPDD, with plans to expand opportunities and impact in future classes.
