At approximately 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, Northshore Fire Protection District was dispatched to a reported structure fire on E Hwy 20 in Lucerne.

The first-arriving unit, E8511 from Nice, arrived on scene at approximately 8:28 a.m. and reported a working residential structure fire involving two garages, two vehicles, and a boat.

Minutes later, E7511 from Clearlake Oaks and Chief 801 arrived on scene. Crews worked to contain the fire and prevent further spread into the surrounding residential areas – and the fire was contained by approximately 9:43 a.m. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Crews remained on scene for several hours conducting overhaul and mop-up operations.

About Northshore Fire Protection District:

Northshore Fire Protection District is a special district and all-risk emergency response agency serving approximately 357 square miles along Highway 20, from the Mendocino County line to the Colusa County line.

As a special district, our primary source of funding comes through taxes within the jurisdiction we serve—not from the County of Lake general fund.

While the cost of providing emergency services has continued to increase, funding for Northshore Fire Protection District has not increased in over 20 years. As a result, we have experienced staffing challenges.

These staffing limitations made it necessary to make the difficult decision to down staff the Lucerne Fire Station, with remaining resources strategically positioned in Clearlake Oaks and Nice to maintain emergency response coverage throughout our district.

Despite these challenges, the Northshore Fire Protection District remains committed to our mission: protecting lives.

Thank you to our firefighters, dispatchers, mutual-aid partners, and everyone who supports Northshore Fire Protection District.
