A little late, but our appreciation is no less heartfelt! During National Police Week, we were blessed by the kindness and support of our community.

A sincere thank you to Covenant Christian School for the thoughtful goodies and treats they provided to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Your generosity and support meant a great deal to our staff.

We would also like to thank Filer Credit Union for delivering coffee to our office during National Police Week. The coffee was greatly appreciated and served as a reminder of the incredible community support we are fortunate to have.

Congratulations to School Resource Officer Deputy Jake Lesinski on being awarded the 2026 “Make a Difference Award” by the West Shore ESD Special Education Parent Advisory Committee.

For the past 2 1/2 years serving as the School Resource Officer at Mason County Eastern Schools, Deputy Lesinski has proven to be an exceptional role model for the entire MCE staff, students, and community. His dedication, compassion, and commitment to building positive relationships with students have made a lasting impact throughout the district.

Deputy Lesinski was also instrumental in providing comfort, reassurance, support, and obtaining speed enforcement signs as students and staff navigated the grief following the recent loss of student Sammi Bateson — one of the most difficult situations any School Resource Officer may face.

Thank you, Deputy Lesinski, for your service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the students and families of Mason County Eastern. This recognition is truly well deserved.

During National Police Week 2026, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office joins agencies across this country in honoring the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers past and present.

This week is not simply about a profession — it is about the men and women who willingly stood between danger and the communities they swore to protect. It is about remembering those who never made it home.

We solemnly honor the officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to others will never be forgotten. Their names and stories remain woven into the fabric of this profession and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

To the families of the fallen, we remember your sacrifice as well. To those who continue to wear the badge today, thank you for your continued commitment to serving with honor, integrity, and courage.

Please take a moment this week to remember the fallen, support those who serve, and reflect on the true cost of public safety.

As we recognize Motorcycle Safety Awareness Week, let’s all do our part to help keep our roads safe.

A quarter million Michiganders ride motorcycles.

Motorcyclists are our friends, neighbors, family members, and coworkers — and they are far more vulnerable on the roadway. A simple second look before changing lanes, turning, or pulling into traffic can save a life.

Drivers:
🏍️ Look twice before turning or changing lanes
🏍️ Give motorcycles extra following distance
🏍️ Always check blind spots
🏍️ Stay alert and avoid distractions

Motorcyclists:
🏍️ Wear proper safety gear
🏍️ Stay visible
🏍️ Ride sober and responsibly

Together, we can prevent tragedies and make our roads safer for everyone. This week — and every week — remember: Look Twice. Save a Life.
