Mason County MI Sheriff's Office Welcome to the page for the Mason County Sheriff's Office. Mason County is located in West
(213)

The mission of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office is to enforce the laws of the State of Michigan and to protect the innocent from those who would violate those laws by diligent traffic enforcement, thorough criminal investigation and by the humane incarceration of those sentenced by the courts. The power and authority of the sheriff to accomplish this mission derives from the United States Constit

ution and the Constitution of the State of Michigan. It does not come from a city charter, a governor, a judge or a president; it comes from ” We the people”. Vision Statement:
The purpose of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office is to fulfill the mission of the Sheriff. This is done by the following:
Pride: Being professional in our conduct on and off duty and conducting ourselves to a higher standard through excellence, training and self-discipline. Tradition: Remembering the heritage of those who have gone before and the heritage we will leave for those who follow. Honor: Developing our personal character through leadership, due diligence, and self-reflection, doing what is right no matter the cost and protecting the dignity of those we serve.

Wow! Thank you, Mason County, for your incredible generosity during our first annual Stuff-a-Bus campaign!

To give you an idea of the overwhelming support we received, donations included more than 400 boxes of crayons, 300 boxes of colored pencils, 500 boxes of pencils, over 500 glue sticks, countless packages of lined paper and notebooks, and so much more!

We would like to thank Walmart for bringing this wonderful idea to us, Mason County Eastern Superintendent Paul Shoup for generously providing one of the district’s buses, and our local media outlets for helping us spread the word.

Most importantly, we want to thank everyone who donated and helped make this campaign such a tremendous success! Our School Resource Officers, local schools, teachers, and students are incredibly grateful for your support.

We look forward to doing it all again next year!

🚨West Michigan Fair Shenanigans 🚨

ATTENTION Oceana County Sheriff's Office!

We heard our friends over in Oceana County have been riding horses and feeling pretty good about themselves.

That’s cute.

Here in Mason County, we decided to show them how it’s really done.

While Oceana is out feeding horses, cleaning stalls, and figuring out which end kicks…

we upgraded to a model that doesn’t eat, doesn’t need a trailer, and gets approximately 47,000 miles to the bale of hay.

Sure, ours goes in circles.

But technically, so do most government meetings.

Oceana County may have real horses…

but Mason County has air conditioning, cup holders, and apparently a Sheriff’s Office command staff with absolutely no adult supervision. West Michigan Fair shenanigans.

Your move, Oceana County Sheriff's Office.

IT’S FAIR TIME!

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office will be out and about at the fair, so come find us, say hi, and enjoy everything the fair has to offer!

We always enjoy getting a chance to visit with our community especially when the only flashing lights around are coming from the carnival rides.

And if you happen to see a few of us sneaking around the fair food or making an extra stop at the chocolate milk booth…

Mind ya business!

Have fun, be safe, and come say hello!

We’ll see you at the fair!

A friendly reminder from your Mason County Marine Patrol.

As we enter the busy season, please refer to the included diagram on how to navigate the channel safely.

Slow No Wake is just that!

When coming and going out of Ludington Harbor slower traffic should stay on the outside, and faster traffic to the middle.

If you are trolling, please do so in a counterclockwise manner, as the arrows suggest. Do not block the main part of the channel, and remember that outbound and inbound traffic have the right of way.

If you are jigging on spot lock, you are going to be treated just like any other vessel that is underway, and should follow the rules of the road accordingly.

If you are jigging and anchored, remember to stay out of the areas that are designated as No Anchorage. If you are found anchoring in these areas, you will be asked to move

Last but not least remember to turn your NAV lights on one hour before sunset, and keep them on one hour after sunrise. They are also required in low visibility situations like fog or inclement weather.

This is a navigation channel, and not an inland lake. Let’s keep things safe for everyone!

A special thank you to Sergeant Warmuskerken and Deputy Postma for stepping up to support a wonderful cause.

Both volunteered to take a seat in the dunk tank to help raise funds for a member of our community who is courageously battling cancer. We are proud to stand with our community and do our part to support those facing difficult times.

Judging by the long line of people waiting for their turn to dunk them—many of whom were their fellow coworkers—it was clear they were willing to take one for the team in the name of a great cause!

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make the event a success. Together, we continue to show what makes our community so special.
