π Hats off to Consumers Energy employees who took a day to volunteer at Historic White Pine Village, sprucing things up for the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration!
π¨π§ Throughout the day, teams tackled projects across the village, including trimming trees, repairing the chapel landing, rebuilding steps at the General Store, replacing the town hall threshold, removing stumps, edging walkways, power washing boardwalks and steps, clearing sawdust and scrap wood from the sawmill, painting buildings and benches, repairing paved walkways, and more.
They also constructed a new hard-packed gravel pathway connecting the Sugar Shack area to the chapel. This improvement now creates a continuous pathway around the village and expands accessibility, allowing more visitors to experience one of the village's most beloved historic structures.
"As we prepare to celebrate the village's 50th anniversary in just a few short weeks, (this) volunteer effort serves as a powerful reminder of why Historic White Pine Village has endured for five decades," said Rebecca Berringer, executive director of the Mason County Historical Society. "It is not because of any one building, exhibit, staff member, or board member. It has survived and thrived because generations of people have stepped forward to support it."
