🇺🇸🎓 VFW YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 🎓🇺🇸

VFW Post 3236 – is encouraging local students to participate in the VFW’s 2026–2027 youth scholarship competitions!

✍️ Patriot’s Pen — Grades 6–8
Submit a 300–400 word written essay and compete for national awards of up to $5,000.

🎙️ Voice of Democracy — Grades 9–12
Record a 3–5 minute original audio essay and compete for more than $2 million in scholarships, including a $35,000 National First Place Scholarship.

⭐ 2026–2027 Theme:
“What a Veteran Taught Me About America.”

📅 Deadline: October 31, 2026

📍 Submit your completed entry to Ludlow VFW Post 3236.

We encourage Ludlow, Palmer, Chicopee, Holyoke and other surrounding area students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors, and school administrators to help spread the word. This is a great opportunity for our young people to share their voices, honor America’s veterans, and compete for scholarship awards.

🇺🇸 PARADE PARTICIPANTS WANTED! 🇺🇸

We just a few weeks away!!!!

The Town of Palmer is seeking participants for the 2026 Palmer Veterans Day Parade!

We invite veterans and military organizations, schools, scouts, civic groups, public safety departments, community organizations, marching units, and others to join us as we honor the brave men and women who have served our nation.

📅 Wednesday, November 11, 2026
🕚 Line-up: 11:00 a.m.
🇺🇸 Parade kickoff: 11:45 a.m.

OFFICE CLOSURE NOTICE

📢 Ludlow–Palmer Veterans Services

Please be advised that our offices will be CLOSED on Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20, 2026, as our staff attends EOVS State Training.

This training provides valuable updates, resources, and professional development to ensure we continue delivering the highest level of service and support to our veterans and their families.

✅ We will reopen on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and resume normal business hours.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue strengthening our knowledge and commitment to those who have served our nation.

🦃🍂 THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE 🍂🦃

Help fill a holiday table for veterans and their families! Ludlow–Palmer Veterans Services is collecting non-perishable holiday dinner items now through November 18, 2026.

Suggested donations include:

🥔 Boxed stuffing and instant mashed potatoes
🥫 Canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, and yams
🍽️ Canned or packaged gravy
🥧 Cornbread mix, canned pumpkin, and pie filling

Please donate unopened items within their expiration dates.

The Ludlow–Palmer Veterans Services Department would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who attended our Veterans Meet & Greet at the Palmer Library!

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our local veterans, their families, and members of the community. We enjoyed meeting everyone, answering questions, sharing information about available benefits and services, and most importantly, listening to the needs and concerns of those we proudly serve.

As we continue moving forward as a unified Veterans Services Department, events like this remind us of the importance of building relationships, strengthening communication, and ensuring that every veteran knows they have a dedicated team ready to assist them.

A special thank you to the Palmer Library for hosting us and helping make this event possible.

To everyone who stopped by, whether to ask a question, learn about our services, or simply introduce yourself, thank you for taking the time to connect with us.
