Meet the Leadership Team: Patrick Smith, NRP, AAS

Patrick Smith serves as Excelsior’s Vice President of Operations, bringing decades of field experience and operational leadership to the organization.

Patrick began his Excelsior journey in 2020 as a paramedic with our Montgomery Division. A paramedic since 1998 and a veteran of 22 years in the fire service, Patrick brought a wealth of experience to Excelsior. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, he advanced through the organization and now oversees operations across Excelsior.

His firsthand experience caring for patients and supporting frontline crews continues to shape his leadership approach today. Patrick is passionate about ensuring our teams have the training, equipment, and support they need to deliver exceptional care every day.

We’re proud to have leaders like Patrick who understand our mission from the ground up and help drive Excelsior forward.

🩸 World Blood Donor Day! Every day, blood donors help save the lives of trauma patients, surgical patients, cancer patients, and countless others who depend on lifesaving transfusions.

This year's observance comes at a critical time. The American Red Cross has reported ongoing blood supply challenges, with hospital demand continuing to outpace donations and blood inventories remaining below desired levels. In recent months, the organization reported a significant decline in available blood products and continues to encourage eligible donors to give.

As EMS professionals, we see firsthand how important blood products can be during emergencies. Whether it's a trauma patient, a mother experiencing complications during childbirth, or someone undergoing critical medical treatment, donated blood can make all the difference.

This World Blood Donor Day, we encourage those who are eligible to consider donating blood and helping ensure this lifesaving resource is available when patients need it most. Thank you to all who give the gift of life. 🩸

The Myrtle Beach crew enjoyed dinner at Bar-B-Que House in Surfside last night with our VP of Administration, Louis Pike. 🍖

Taking time to share a meal, catch up, and enjoy each other's company is just one of the many ways we stay connected as a team.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month. Providing exceptional patient care requires more than clinical skills, it also requires taking care of the people behind the uniform.

This month, we're recognizing the importance of mental health, wellness, and peer support within EMS and encouraging conversations that help support first responders on and off the job.

June is National Safety Month, and safety remains at the core of everything we do.

A few weeks ago, members of our Dublin team participated in safety training focused on maintaining the skills, awareness, and best practices that help keep our crews, patients, and communities safe every day.

Thank you to our team members for their commitment to continuous learning and excellence.

It's CPR & AED Awareness Week! Knowing CPR and how to use an AED can make all the difference in an emergency.

Community Tips:
✅ Learn CPR from a certified instructor
✅ Know where the nearest AED is located
✅ AEDs provide step-by-step voice instructions
✅ You do not need medical training to use an AED

A few minutes of preparation today could help save a life tomorrow.

06/02/2026

This week is CPR & AED Awareness Week, and we couldn’t think of a better time to share this moment from our recent Teddy Bear Drive in Long County. 🫀

These future lifesavers had the opportunity to learn and practice CPR, building skills that could one day make all the difference in an emergency.

Did you know?
⚡ More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals in the U.S. each year.
⚡ Immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.
⚡ About 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home, meaning the life you save could be someone you love.

You are never too young (or old!) to learn how to help. You never know whose life you might save.
