The County has endured hardship for too long, but we’re now on stronger financial footing and ready to restore the quality of services you should have.

The Recreation Department now has three full-time employees; the Road Department is becoming well-equipped with everything needed to improve road conditions; the Fire Department is working to recruit more personnel to improve response times; Elections is now staffed with two full-time employees; Planning and Zoning is nearly back online with a new crew and board; and two dumpsites will be open by the end of the month!

Good afternoon,

Attached is the 5-month operational (General Fund) P&L Report. Some residents have raised concerns about the debt we’ve been paying down and our ability to sustain operations through the rest of the year. This report covers activity through October 31st, and starting in November we expect a significant increase in revenue. The October Jail Bond Payment has already been included in this assessment.

While unexpected events can occur, we’re optimistic that this year we’ll be debt-free and able to operate without taking out operational loans. We’ve also included a $250K contingency fund to help ensure stability.

PUBLIC NOTICE – FY27 BUDGET WORKSHOPS, HEARINGS, AND ADOPTION

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners will hold a Budget Workshop, Public Hearings, and consider adoption of the Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) Budget.

The schedule is as follows:
• Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM – FY27 Budget Workshop
• Tuesday, June 2 at 11:30 AM – 1st FY27 Budget Public Hearing
• Tuesday, June 2 at 5:30 PM – 2nd FY27 Budget Public Hearing
• Tuesday, June 2 at 6:00 PM – Regular Monthly Meeting & FY27 Budget Adoption

All meetings will be held at the Long County Board of Commissioners Office located at 468 S. McDonald St., Ludowici, GA 31316.

The purpose of these meetings is to review the proposed FY27 Budget, receive public comment, and consider final adoption.

All residents are encouraged to attend and be heard.

The Long County Board of Commissioners is extending the deadline for sealed bids for Litter Pick-up Services (82.062 miles of county roads). Sealed bids will be received until 4:00 PM, May 21, 2026, at 468 South McDonald Street, Ludowici, Georgia 31316.

Specifications are available at the Long County Board of Commissioners’ Office or may be requested by email at [email protected]

Submit sealed bids marked:

The Long County Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to award the bid in the best interest of Long County.

PUBLIC NOTICE – CIE PUBLIC HEARING (2nd Hearing)

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners will hold the second public hearing on the Capital Improvements Element (CIE) and adoption of the Transmittal Resolution on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 5:30 PM.

The purpose of the hearing is to receive additional public input prior to final consideration of the CIE.

All interested residents are encouraged to attend and be heard.
