Long County Commissioners held a special called meeting, just a day after they announced that Interim Election Supervisor Brook Schreiner was fired. Schreiner had held the position since Oct. 1st.

Long County seeks a new regional commission

Long County commissioners voted 5-0 on Sept. 24 to petition the state to move the county’s regional commission membership from the Coastal Regional Commission to the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission.

The board cited service needs, geography and community priorities. The vote approves a request—not the transfer itself. The Georgia Department of Community Affairs must decide, and the materials reviewed did not give a decision or transfer date.
