Foster care and adoption - Buckner provides the training and resources needed to become a family to a child for a season through foster care or a forever family through domestic foster care or adoption. Children in these programs are most often referred through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services due to experiencing abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also respond to mothers exper

iencing an unplanned pregnancy with counseling and support. Single Parents - We provide single-parent families the opportunity to live in a safe, secure environment while completing their educational or vocational goals and learning the skills they need to be self-sufficient. Families are provided support through access to affordable housing, financial assistance, counseling, spiritual growth and case management services. Call 936-637-3300 to learn more about this life-changing ministry. Foster Youth Aging Out Services - Our support programs are provided for current and former youth in state foster care. The goal of the aging out program is to provide training, support and guidance to youth graduating from foster care that will enhance their ability to transition into independent living. Right now, there are over 500 children over the age of 13 waiting for adoption. These are kids who, by no fault of their own, need a safe place to call home. The statistics are staggering for youth who age out of foster care, but loving families can make a difference.

If you’ve ever thought about adoption, consider adopting a teenager. We have virtual information meetings where you can learn more about adoption and our organization.

We promise to walk beside you with counseling, resources, and more as we work together to provide loving homes to deserving kids.

To learn about how you can adopt a teenager, fill out the contact form on our website: https://na2.hubs.ly/H06X2bz0

This last Saturday, our Buckner Lufkin and Buckner Beaumont centers held a TBRI Family Fun Event at the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin thanks to the Region 5 Heart Gallery of Southeast Texas grant.

Our Buckner counseling team was able to lead a training on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the needs of children who have come from hard places. This training provides our caregivers the practical tools to see the “whole child” in their care and help each child we work with to feel valued and seen.

A huge thank you to Longview and Lufkin foster care teams and the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid and we look forward to hosting similar events in partnership with Heart Gallery in the future!

👉 As children in the foster care system get older, it’s common for their hope of adoption to fade. In Texas, more than 1,000 kids age out of foster care each year.

👉 Another added challenge is finding a home that can take in a group of siblings so they can stay together. According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, more than 7,000 sibling groups in the state of Texas are currently in foster care.

Those with safe homes and willing hearts can stand in the gap for children in foster care. Is God calling you? Join Buckner for a no-obligation, virtual information meeting: https://na2.hubs.ly/H07lz-S0

Upcoming meeting dates: August 27 | September 10 | September 24
