For every one child raised by relatives in foster care, roughly 19 children are raised by kin outside the foster care system. This means they don’t have access to monthly stipends, free resources, a community of partners, counseling, support groups, and more. Everybody needs a day out of the office to paint! The Craft Shack let us be creative with our door mats and helped us along the way. We are grateful for time to fellowship together and recharge so that we can continue shining hope into the lives of children and families in Deep East Texas.

Kinship care allows children to be placed with relatives after being removed from the home. Kinship care is always the first choice because it is proven that kids have better success rates when they are with people they know. Kinship care also allows foster parents to receive financial help, resources, community, and more so that they can care for the children. So often families walk this road alone. Buckner wants to help empower you so children can remain with their relatives and begin to thrive in a stable, loving environment.
