The Schoeffner Animal Lovers Club had their last visit with us for the year. They made a special request for their favorite pet visitor…HANK!

They also had a guest reader in Caylee with a book about Animal Shelters & care.

Thank YOU for being great students & inviting us all year!

Today was Lakewood Elementary’s career day. They were very attentive, asked great questions and seems we have alot of animal lovers in our community. And, it was Hawaii day🌺

A common question…what age is minimum to volunteer? Birth.

Congrats to the Eitmann family & Aussie! She very possibly has the coolest cat name ever!

They shared with us the origin. “Aussie” was the last ship's cat of the transpacific liner RMS Niagara. Look it up-cool cat!

This the tiny tot with the deformed legs that we splinted to straighten. Tomorrow we will post her last bandage change. Now she is free to snuggle in beds & live a grand life!

Congratulations to Bella on finding her forever home 🎉

MIMOSA PARK AREA

Humane trapping in progress. Please, pick up all outdoor food. Text (985) 240-2458 if you are a location seeing cats. We can help!

We are experiencing a kitten explosion in this subdivision because a large population of cats remained unspayed and unneutered last year. Cats can begin reproducing as young as 4 months old & 1 unaltered female can have multiple litters per year. When a colony is not fully sterilized, the population grows rapidly within a short period of time.

Even if many cats were trapped and altered, leaving only a small number intact allows breeding to continue and quickly replace the progress made. This is why complete colony sterilization is so important. A few unspayed females and intact males can result in dozens of kittens by the following spring.

To reduce the suffering, disease spread, nuisance complaints, and overpopulation cycle, we need the community’s cooperation with:

* Humane trapping
* Immediate spay/neuter
* Ear-notched identification
* Not feeding intact cats outside traps
* Reporting new litters quickly

Neonates need mom 💯 %. We are humanely trapping her tonight in Ormond to reunite her with neonates so they can feed, learn boundaries, grow healthy & not require a human every 2 hours.

Until then, thank you to Lauren, our part-time team member for fostering.
