Dear GGJH Family,
I am writing this letter to you with appreciation and gratitude. Change is never easy, but always constant. Prior to Spring Break, I submitted my resignation as the Gilbert Gerdes Junior High Principal to accept a position as the TTIPS Grant Project Director/District Coordinator of School Improvement for the Golden Rule Charter Schools.
Being the Principal at Gilbert Gerdes Junior High has had its rewarding experiences.
My family and I would like to thank you for all of your support, kind words of encouragement, and embracing us for these past two years. Without you, we would not have been able to make the strides and achieve the accomplishments that makes our school so special. I feel, that we as a community, must continue working together to build a foundation of success for the students at Gilbert Gerdes Junior High.
As much sadness as it gives me to leave our Luling family, it is time for me to join my wife and children back home in Dallas. This Friday will end a two month journey, which involved the application/interview process, the selection of a finalist and the transition of a new campus administrator. If you have not yet met the new campus administrator, I invite you to visit with Mrs. Meshell.
Mrs. Kelly Meshell brings 20 years of educational experience and an expectation of high academic standards to Gilbert Gerdes Junior High. She is a strong student advocate who welcomes and encourages parent/community involvement in the school. I believe you will find her to be open, friendly, and accessible to all.
I ask that you continue your support of GGJH and embrace the new leadership of Mrs. Meshell. You will find her ready to lead and work for you.
Best Wishes,
Mr. Ernie Amaton
