Congratulations to the 10 Robeson County Sheriff’s Deputies pictured below for graduating the 40 hour Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) class held at Robeson Community College. A graduation ceremony was sponsored earlier today at Robeson Community College for these and other graduates.

Law Enforcement Officers are often the front-line responders to persons in crisis with a serious mental illness.

In an effort to better prepare deputies to respond to these individuals, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office continues to send deputies and detention officers to this specialized training in hopes of having trained officers available at any scene involving a situation in which a person with a mental health breakdown or crisis is confronted. More Deputies and Detention Officers are scheduled to attend another session of CIT at Robeson Community College later this year.

A number of communities throughout the United States have developed a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program which have proven useful for law enforcement agencies and other first responders. Pictured in the last photo are other graduates from Lumberton Police Department, the Magistrates Office and the NC State Bureau of Investigation. Congratulations to you all.

Deputies below in the first photo are:

First Sergeant Mark Graham, First Sergeant Earl Cox, First Sergeant Garrett Hunt, First Sergeant Coby Houser and First Sergeant James Brown.

Second row:
First Sergeant Brandon Oxendine, First Sergeant Steven Lewis, Deputy Steven Earl Jones and
First Sergeant Vince Locklear.

Pictured are inmates doing a little something out of the norm. In an effort to re-erect county road signs that have been pushed over by grass cutting equipment or struck by vehicles etc, we are doing our best to put them back in place. As you can see, the grass was actually high at this intersection in the Saddletree community so inmates used w**d eaters to knock some of the growth down. This particular road sign was noticed during a recent bike run and was almost completely down.

We have also noticed many road signs across the county lack any lettering on them at all. Obviously these signs are important not only for our residents and first responders, but for those traveling into our county as well. I have spoken with the appropriate county authority about this and plan to assist as we can.

This is yet another effort to clean up our county and we can’t do it alone. If you live near an intersection such as this and can assist with cutting the grass and w**d eating around the signs, that would be much appreciated as well. As with most situations, we can’t sit back and wait on someone else to do it. Thanks everyone, have a safe day.
