Summer at the Burrow Nature Center! 🌲

We still have a few spots open for our upcoming Forest School Saturdays (May 16 & Jun 6, 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM). This is our signature guided program for kids to dive deep into nature-based play and exploration.

NEW: Summer Community Days! ☀️
This summer, we’re opening the land for a series of free/donation-based days. These are less about "lessons" and more about Community & Connection.

While we won’t have the full Forest School educational lineup, we’re inviting families to come explore the trails, wade in the pond, and get to know other nature-loving families in our area. It’s a chance for the kids to run wild while the parents build community.

📍 RSVP is still required for all dates (so we can keep groups small and safe).

We're so grateful to Country Roads Magazine for this feature that truly captures the spirit of this project we have been stewarding the past 7 years. We are deeply indebted to our family, for all of their support and love, to our friends and collaborators, for all the unique perspectives, contributions, and to all of you, supporters near and far that have kept our dreams alive over the years. We would be nowhere without all of you!

If you're looking to support us moving forward, now is a wonderful time to give to Burrow Nature Center non-profit. We are in the running for a grant to create an internship program for youth leaders interested in learning conservation and ecological restoration skills applicable to the longleaf pine savannah region. Every little bit helps. TIA :) Link in comments!

Join us on Saturday, March 7th for a full day willow basket workshop! Participants will make a 10’’ wide x 4’’ deep (approximately) willow frame basket. We will discuss some basics of willow basketry while acknowledging the accessibility of the craft, the materials, the history of the land we are gathered upon, and the current cultural environment we practice this craft within. There are 3 spaces left!

Experience Level: All levels are welcome. No experience required. Average to moderate hand strength is needed for this class. It will likely not be a good fit for anyone with hand sensitivities including hand injuries or arthritis.

For More Info and to Register: click the link at bio!

About the Instructor: Frea (FREE yuh; she/they) is committed to fostering an equitable approach to craft. Her teaching will thoughtfully explore how craft practices, education, and materials are connected to broader social issues such as historical and ongoing injustices, including land appropriation, indigenous displacement, and systemic inequality. She will also share ways she is actively engaging in efforts towards repair and positive change within the field. You can learn more about Frea at WildEarthCrafts.com.

If you’ve read the book or have just been touched by Rodger Kamenetz’s spiritual explorations and insights, we would love to have you join us on this unique, contemplative retreat.
Together we will practice turning our attention away from the afflictive emotions that consume our day to day and towards that which cultivates a sense of gratitude, connection, and meaning in our lives. We will draw upon the gifts of poetry, the unique sandhill ecosystem that will surround us, and our dreams to spark our imagination and deepen our sense of connection to all things.
Visit the link in bio or send us a pm if you’re interested to learn more! The retreat will be Feb 28-Mar 1st! Private accommodation on the land is currently full, but we do have options for shared accommodation and/or camping, as well as BnBs in the area. We so look forward to being with you!

Join us Oct 10-11 as we celebrate the first *quarterly* AYNI Village Jam!

This season we will be celebrating Sukkot, the Jewish harvest holiday, beginning at 2:30pm Oct 10. Folks are welcome to arrive anytime between 2:30-6 to help build our Sukkah, the traditional shelter built for gathering with friends and family under the stars in gratitude for another years harvest and in hopes for a beautiful year to come. All are welcome to campout following our potluck dinner.

On Saturday Oct 11, we will begin our day sharing with all of you about AYNI Village, the long-term residential community that is in a huge growth spurt. If you are interested in learning more about how to explore staying here for short or long term residencies, this is the time to join us!! Following some garden time and a yaupon tea demo, we will offer a shared lunch.

To close our day at 3pm we will have Barter Fest, a chance to share needs, wants, offers, goods, and services. Our hope is to gather seasonally to build pathways of mutual aid and generative, reciprocal exchange that bolster our communities and make us stronger.

This event is offered freely to the community but we do ask that you RSVP—link in bio! *you are welcome to drop in/out of the weekend events as you like & your children are welcome 🤗*

Email [email protected] if you have any questions or accommodation needs!

We are so excited to announce that we now have a wonderful sister organization, Burrow Nature Center!

This newly formed 501c3 non-profit is focused on conservation and education in our beloved piney woods / sandhill region of Mississippi. The Burrow Nature Center is now going to be the home organization of The Forest School at All You Need; and we plan to support their efforts to raise funds to reduce any accessibility barriers to families in our region who want child-led, land-based, nature education opportunities. Please go ahead and follow along for all of their updates and help the Burrow Nature Center reach their fundraising goals!

🌿 Welcome to Burrow Nature Center🌿

We’re a new nonprofit rooted in the piney hills of the Gulf Coast, dedicated to restoring our native longleaf pine savanna and reconnecting people—especially children—with the land.

Inspired by the gopher tortoise who calls our sandhills in southern Mississippi home, we believe in building shared spaces where biodiversity and community thrive together. Through our Forest School, kids discover confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love for nature. Our Adult Programs equip locals with conservation training, permaculture skills, and pathways to sustainable livelihoods.

We’re planting the seeds for a resilient future—and we need your help to grow. 🌱

Your donation supports habitat restoration, outdoor education, and a new generation of environmental stewards.
