With the warm and beautiful days here, many people are spending time outside working in their yards and getting things looking good for summer. But while you’re outside, have you thought about whether first responders could quickly and safely reach your home during an emergency?

Overgrown trees, blocked driveways, hidden addresses, and narrow access points can delay emergency responders when every second matters. Taking a few minutes now to check your property could make a major difference during an emergency situation.

Here are a few important things to look at around your home or property:
• Make sure your address is clearly visible from the roadway. Both day and night.
• Trim low-hanging tree limbs and overgrown bushes around driveways and entrances.
• Keep driveways clear and wide enough for emergency vehicles to access.
• Avoid parking vehicles or placing objects that could block emergency access.
• Ensure gates can be opened quickly if emergency crews need to enter.

Fire trucks, ambulances, and rescue vehicles are much larger than regular vehicles and need enough room to safely reach you when help is needed most. Help us help you by making sure your property is accessible before an emergency happens.

Today we take a moment to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, service, and selflessness helped secure the freedoms we enjoy each day. As we spend time with family and friends, let us never forget the meaning of this day and the heroes who are no longer with us.

🏍️ Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month 🏍️

May serves as a reminder that motorcycles are back on the road, and whether you’re on two wheels or four, safety starts with all of us. If Every day, riders travel our roads with far less protection than those in passenger vehicles. A moment of distraction, failing to check a blind spot, or not noticing a motorcycle at an intersection can change lives forever.

🚗 Drivers:
• Check mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes
• Give motorcycles plenty of space
• Use extra caution at intersections
• Avoid distracted driving
• Always signal your turns and lane changes

🏍️ Riders:
• Wear proper safety gear
• Keep headlights on, even during the day
• Avoid riding in blind spots whenever possible
• Ride sober and stay alert
• Slow down during wet or low-visibility conditions

Let’s all do our part to help keep our roads safe this riding season.

Through this week, as our station has glowed red, and as it glows for the final night tonight, we pause to remember those who are no longer with us, reflect on their sacrifice, and stand united in honoring their legacy. May this light serve as a lasting reminder of their courage, service, and the ultimate sacrifice they made.
