Lumberton ISD Closure Update — Friday, September 4

Throughout the day, Lumberton ISD has been assessing our district buildings and systems to determine our operational capacity. Unfortunately, we will not be able to safely and fully operate our campuses tomorrow, Friday, September 4. Therefore, Lumberton ISD will be closed.

Monday, September 7, is a scheduled district holiday in observance of Labor Day, so we look forward to welcoming our students and staff back to school on Tuesday, September 8.

We do have some good news regarding the four instructional days we have missed this week. Because Lumberton ISD has enough instructional minutes banked, we will not be required to make up all four missed days. However, we will need to make up one instructional day.

📅 Monday, January 18, 2027, will now be an instructional day for students and staff. This date is designated as our first bad weather make-up day on the board-approved school calendar. Please make note of this calendar change.

Extracurricular Activities

All extracurricular activities scheduled for Friday will still take place as scheduled, including:

🏐 LHS Volleyball at Orangefield
🏈 Varsity Football at Kirbyville

Coaches and directors will communicate directly with students, parents, and participants regarding specific information for those events.

We sincerely appreciate the patience, flexibility, and understanding of our Raider families and staff as we have worked through the challenges of this week.

LISD UPDATE at 4:30pm:

Lumberton ISD Closed Thursday, September 3

After assessing our district facilities, some of our campuses are not yet fully operational. As a result, Lumberton ISD will be CLOSED tomorrow, Thursday, September 3.

High school athletic contests scheduled for tomorrow will still take place at this time. Raider Stadium has functional electricity, allowing the JV and Freshman Red football games at home to proceed. The Freshman Blue football game at PNG is also still scheduled to take place.

Coaches will communicate additional information and any updates directly with athletes and families through ParentSquare.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our Raider families and staff as we work to ensure all of our campuses are fully operational and ready to safely welcome students and staff back.

Lumberton ISD is currently assessing our district buildings and facilities to determine operational capacity following the recent weather.

Our teams are evaluating conditions across the district, and we will provide another update to our staff and families this evening as more information becomes available.

Due to weather impact and local power disruptions in our area, Lumberton ISD will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2.

High school coaches will be in touch with athletes and families via ParentSquare regarding voluntary practices tomorrow afternoon.

Dear Lumberton ISD Families and Staff,

We hope everyone is staying safe following today’s weather.

At this time, our plan is to have school tomorrow and begin at our regular start time. District officials will continue to closely monitor weather conditions, road conditions and power outages throughout the evening and into the early morning hours.

Should conditions require us to modify our normal start time or school schedule, we will communicate that information to families and staff as soon as possible through our regular district communication channels.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to monitor conditions and make decisions with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority.

Lumberton ISD Closed Tuesday, September 1

Out of an abundance of caution due to forecasted weather conditions, Lumberton ISD will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. We encourage everyone to take necessary precautions, stay weather-aware, and remain safe throughout the storm.

All Lumberton ISD extracurricular games and practices scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled. Coaches and sponsors will communicate any additional information regarding rescheduling directly with students and families.

As of now, Lumberton ISD plans to resume classes on Wednesday, September 2. We will continue to monitor weather and local conditions and will communicate any changes or additional information through ParentSquare and the Lumberton ISD page.

🔎 First up: Did you know there are multiple ways to report negative behaviors, such as bullying?

Students and families can use our Anonymous Tips link, students in grades 6–12 can request to visit with a counselor through ClassLink, and parents, guardians or students can reach out through Let’s Talk, Lumberton!

🏈❤️💙 RAIDER FANS — LET’S KEEP IT RESPECTFUL! 💙❤️🏈

As we head into our first home football game, we’re excited to see Raider Stadium packed with fans supporting our students! We also want to remind everyone of an important change in Texas law regarding spectator behavior at UIL events.

In its second year, Senate Bill 2929 gives game officials the authority to immediately remove a spectator for disruptive or inappropriate behavior — no warning is required. If an official removes a spectator, that decision is final.

You may also notice the “3 incidents” referenced in the graphic. This provision has consequences that go beyond the individual spectator. If a school has three spectator-removal incidents during a school year, the UIL may prohibit that school from having officials assigned to its home games for the remainder of that school year.

That means the behavior of individuals in the stands can ultimately impact our students, teams and entire athletic program.

So, Raider fans, let’s do what we do best:

👏 Cheer FOR our Raiders, not against the other team.
🤝 Respect officials, coaches, athletes and visiting fans.
📣 Be loud and proud while keeping it positive.
