City of Lumberton Fire Department Lumberton Fire Department is dedicated to saving lives, making bad days better and saving property. The battalions work a 24/48-shift rotation.

In 1903 Stephen McIntyre formed the first organized fire company after taking oath as the special constable of the Chief of the fire department and a policeman of Lumberton thus marking the beginning of the City of Lumberton Fire Department. The Lumberton Fire Department's Central Station is located at 600 North Cedar Street adjacent to City Hall. Fire Department Divisions include Fire Administrat

ion and Fire Suppression. There are two other district fire stations located throughout the city:
1. The Dunn Road Fire Station serves the residents of Southwest Lumberton
2. The Bailey Road Fire Station serves the residents of North Lumberton

The Fire Suppression Division is responsible for firefighting, the delivery of fire prevention and public fire education programs, rescue services, emergency medical response at the Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate level, hazardous materials response at the operations level, building/grounds and hydrant maintenance. There are 3 battalions with 16 personnel assigned to each battalion. Each battalion is comprised of a Battalion Chief, 3 Captains, 1 Lieutenant and 11 firefighters. Each Battalion Chief is responsible for the daily operation of their shift. Captains are responsible for the daily activities of each fire station, as assigned by the Battalion Chief.

Preparedness is a state of mind. It means to be ready for life’s challenges. Preparedness begins with planning and determining weaknesses in your home, agency, etc. After you determine the weaknesses, you make a plan to strengthen in your weaknesses and implement the plan.

Follow along as we have one of our own talk about his “go bag”, “72 hour kit”, “Get home bag”; whichever you choose to call it.

Remember failing to plan means planning to fail.

Battalion 3 participated in in-service training on our new Paratech Rescue Struts and Vetter Air Bags!

Our firefighters got hands on experience with this specialized rescue equipment, focusing on proper setup, operation, and techniques to safely stabilize vehicles and other structures during emergency situations.

The Lumberton Fire Department Battalion 2 is proud to partner with Robeson CRV and our local emergency response agencies to strengthen emergency preparedness and interagency coordination.

Our department was invited to tour the Robeson CRV facility today. This visit will provide local emergency responders including law enforcement, fire, and EMS the opportunity to become more familiar with the facility’s layout, operations, access points, and emergency procedures.

These partnerships are essential to ensuring that, should an emergency occur, our responders are prepared to work together quickly, safely, and effectively.

We appreciate Robeson CRV for inviting our department and for their continued commitment to the safety of their staff, residents, emergency responders, and our community.

Train today. Be ready tomorrow.

Fire Department personnel participated in TR Ropes Technician training putting their skills to work on the scenic Lumber River.

Crews practiced assembling a high line system across the river as part of a scenario involving the need to ferry a victim across flooded roadways.

This hands on training provided valuable experience in rope rescue operations, teamwork, communication, and technical rescue skills.

A special thank you to Robeson Community College Instructor Joe Mancos for providing instruction and sharing his expertise with our firefighters.
