Today, we here at Allenton Fire Department pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything to protect them.

From all of us at Allenton Fire Department — thank you to our fallen heroes, our veterans, and all who continue to serve.

Fire Safety Reminder from the Allenton Fire Department:

As we spend more time cooking at home, it’s important to make sure your family is protected from preventable house fires. Take a few minutes today to check your smoke alarms and ensure they are working properly. Smoke alarms save lives by giving you and your loved ones early warning in the event of a fire.

We also encourage everyone to keep a portable fire extinguisher readily available in the kitchen area of your home where most cooking fires can start. Having quick access to a fire extinguisher can help stop a small fire before it becomes a major emergency.

🚨 Ensure all smoke alarms are tested, and practice your 2-minute fire escape plan, as modern homes can become fully engulfed in under two minutes.

🚨 Be sure to remember the PASS operating technique for portable fire extinguishers. PASS stands for:

P – Pull the pin. Pulling the pin unlocks the operating lever or button so you can discharge the extinguisher. Stand at least 6 to 8 feet from the fire.

A – Aim low, pointing the extinguisher nozzle or hose at the base of the fire.

S – Squeeze the lever below the handle. Squeezing the lever discharges the contents of the extinguisher. When you release the lever, the discharge stops. Some models have a button to press rather than a lever.

S – Sweep from side to side. Moving carefully toward the fire, keep the extinguisher aimed at the base of the fire and sweep from side to side until the flames appear to be out.

Stay safe, stay prepared, and protect your home and family.

It is with great sadness that the East Howellsville Fire Department informs you of the passing of Firefighter Mr. Billy Cox.
Mr. Cox was our last living charter member, and he will always be remembered for the pride, dedication, and sense of ownership he carried for the East Howellsville Fire Department. Mr. Billy served as Secretary of the East Howellsville Fire Department for over 40 years.
I realize that some of you never had the opportunity to meet him, but I had the privilege of fighting fire alongside Mr. Billy, and he was truly a great firefighter. Even up until very recently, Mr. Billy continued attending meetings. When he reached the point where he could no longer drive, one of his children would bring him so he could still be there with his department family.
We could all learn a lot from his dedication and commitment.
Mr. Billy, we know you are with Jesus now, but we also know that when that EHFD tone drops again — whether it be today, tomorrow, next week, or next year — you’ll still be riding with us to that next call.
Please keep the Cox family and the East Howellsville Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Today we honor all the incredible mothers, grandmothers, wives, and mother figures who give their love, strength, and support every single day. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the families you hold together, and the hearts you pour into those around you.

Proverbs 31:31: "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."

From all of us at Allenton Fire Department, we wish you a safe, blessed, and joyful Mother’s Day!

Tonight we welcomed our new equipment truck into our community. This truck will replace the old 141 and will respond to Motor vehicle accidents, Structure Fires and primarily Medical calls. 141 will also serve as a backup for woods fires as it has the capabilities to pump water and a 300 gallon tank. We look forward to serving the community with this new truck in the days to come!

Today marks the end of one chapter, but the beginning of a new and exciting chapter. This vehicle has been a very important part of Allenton Fire Department for many years. As we stop for a moment and reflect on how much of a positive impact this truck has been for the department and our community. 141 is now out of service. We will be welcoming our new equipment truck this evening to our department!

We would like to thank our mutual aid departments for their assistance today regarding the structure fire we had in district along with the woods fire down the road. A quick response was made and both fires were under control in a timely manner.

Happy thanksgiving to everyone!
