Election Day is finally here. I hope to see you at either the VFW Hall or Springfield Elementary School sometime during the day. I bought some Mayor Mark wristbands for my daughter Fiona to pass out at Luray High and have some left. Ask me for one when you see me at the polls.

We've knocked on our last door for this campaign. Mary, my wife, prepared a map of neighborhoods (see below) in Luray for us to visit and we went door-to-door visiting as many citizens of Luray as we could. Thanks again for your warm reception and for sharing your concerns. I hope to get your vote tomorrow, and if elected I look forward to tackling issues from high water bills and derelict buildings to the need for more well paying jobs. See you tomorrow.....Mark

Mary and I will be heading out in a few minutes to visit a few places we missed on our first pass through town. We've grateful for the warm welcome we've received and the many thoughts and comments you have shared with us about Luray's future. Please go out to vote tomorrow and please vote for me as Luray Mayor. Here's a tip for tomorrow - save your 'I Voted' sticker that you'll get at your polling place. The Mimslyn will be having a lunch buffet on Election Day and you will get half off the price of the meal if you are wearing the sticker!

I've been off line for a little while. Mary and I have been walking Luray visiting with our fabulous neighbors! We've been to many hundreds of homes and were able to speak with lots of folks. It has been a very rewarding experience. Thank you all for your opinions, time and courtesy. I'd love to work for you as Luray Mayor and am asking you for your vote on Tuesday. Thank you again.....Mark

Great turn out at the VFW last night! I think that all the participants, candidates and audience alike, were well prepared and sincere. There were a lot of good questions and thoughtful responses. In my opinion this was an excellent example of how town government and citizens can interact to produce significant outcomes. Thanks so much to the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621 for providing this opportunity. Well Done!

I'm heading out again and will be around the Hudson subdivision. Hope to see many of you soon.....Mark

Next week the PNC will have an article profiling the candidates in the Luray Mayoral race. Here's a preview about me: Mary and I moved to Luray about 6 years ago. We live on South Court Street with our two beautiful daughters, Madison and Fiona, along with a couple of dogs and five cats.

As to education, I have a BA degree in Economics and an MBA. I also took the classes in accounting required to take the CPA exam. I was fortunate enough to pass all parts of that test the one time I took it and was a licensed CPA for a number of years.

My work experience covers over 40 years, in a number of fields. I have worked union jobs (road brakeman on the Penn-Central railroad, ordinary seaman in the Seafarers International Union). I managed a fast food restaurant and sold drilling fluids to drilling companies (both off-shore and on-shore rigs). I've worked in public accounting, in city government (City of New Orleans) and in corporate planning for a large electric utility. After many years in management I took a new position in technology and worked in software testing for about 10 years. Finally I went to work for a non-profit firm in the education field.

I am a member of the Luray Rotary club and am a past president of the club. I have been serving on the Luray Planning Commission for the past four years. I have been on the Performing Arts of Luray board of directors for a few years and am currently the Treasurer for the board. Recently Mary and I began attending Christ Episcopal Church and are blesed to have been accepted by this wonderful family.

Please share this post with your friends and please come to the VFW Candidates Forum 10/27 at 6:30.
