🔥 HOW TO REMEMBER THE CLASSES OF FIRE

The easiest way to identify a fire class is to ask:

“What is burning?”

🟩 CLASS A — ASH
Ordinary combustible materials such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber, and some plastics.
Remember: A = Ash — these materials often leave ash when burned.

🟥 CLASS B — BOIL
Flammable liquids such as gasoline, oil, paints, and solvents.
Remember: B = Boil — a simple memory aid for flammable liquids.

🟦 CLASS C — CURRENT
Fires involving energized electrical equipment, including wiring, outlets, appliances, and electrical panels.
Remember: C = Current.

🟨 CLASS D — DENT
Fires involving combustible metals, such as magnesium, sodium, and titanium.
Remember: D = Dent — think of metal that can be dented.

⬛ CLASS K — KITCHEN
Fires involving cooking oils and fats, particularly in commercial cooking equipment.
Remember: K = Kitchen.

🔥 A — Ash | B — Boil | C — Current | D — Dent | K — Kitchen

Knowing what is burning helps identify the fire class and the appropriate extinguishing agent.

⚠️ When in doubt, get out and call the fire department. Never risk your life trying to extinguish a fire that is already spreading.
