Way to go Connor Stark! He made the final hit not only to sink the submarine! He made the final hit in the August Book Battleship game! We can’t wait to get a board ready for September and we have loved seeing everyone so excited to play when they checked out their books!

For storytime today, we honored Dolly Parton by reading The Engine That Could and Coat Of Many Colors. Our craft was to make our own coat of many colors. We have some sheets left over! Come on down to color today!

Dolly Parton was a country music star, an actress, a personality - but she was also so much more. Dolly was an inspiration to millions of people not only in East Tennessee, but around the world. Her dedication to kindness, to individuality, to bravery, and above all, to love, has always signaled what a true gem Dolly was and continues to be in her legacy. Part of that legacy is her Imagination Library: an early literacy program that provides children with free books from birth until their fifth birthday. Dolly's Imagination Library has served over three million children in its 31 years of service, with more being registered all the time.

Dolly was big, and fun, and kind. Dolly was love.

Thank you, Dolly, for everything. We will always love you. 🦋

Yesterday, we lost more than just a country music star. We lost Dolly Parton, who has done so much not just in her hometown of Sevierville, but for children of our nation.

Dolly wanted every child to be able to achieve their dreams just as she had, and she knew where that could start. Reading. The seed of dreams can easily start in books. Dolly started the Imagination Library knowing everyone deserved the chance to read and have books. She wanted them to know their dreams could come true just like others. Her father also inspired her to create the Imagination Library, and something that started in her hometown grew to amazing levels!

The first book a child is gifted from the Imagination Library is The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. Planting the seed that no matter what one wants to achieve, they can do, they just have to believe and not give up.

On behalf of the Luttrell Public Library, we would like to thank Dolly Parton for all she has done in the literacy community, and we know her spirit will continue on in the pages of the books and also in her music.

Rest In Peace, Dolly Parton; we will always love you...

Good Monday morning, everyone! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Now, it's time to start a new week and get back into the routine!

Last week, we asked if you prefer living on a houseboat or a treehouse. Well, it seems the treehouse won with nine votes, and the houseboat came in with five votes! Either one seems like a good time, and you get to enjoy nature!

Now, let's get the brain pumping this morning! Would you rather live without music or live without movies?
