We had so much fun both Friday and Saturday night at the Crenshaw County Rodeo coloring with the cowboys and cowgirls!

Now it’s contest time! 🥳🥳

If your child participated in the coloring contest there will be a post made Monday to drop your pictures in the comment section!

Our amazing citizens will then have the opportunity to vote and comment on their most liked picture!

This will run till lunch Thursday and the picture with the most likes in the comment section will win a gift certificate to The Chicken Shack.

Every day, we ask ourselves one important question:

How do we hold people accountable while also giving them the opportunity to become productive members of our community?

One answer is our Work Release Program.

This program is not a “free pass.” It is a privilege earned by carefully selected who have completed Workforce Development Programs or approved by the Distinct Court. Participants remain in the custody of the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office and are held accountable for following all program rules.

Work release is authorized under Alabama Code, Title 14, Chapter 8, Article 2 (§§ 14-8-30 through 14-8-33), which specifically allows Alabama counties to establish work release programs for eligible county inmates.

So why does this matter?

Because work changes lives.

For an incarcerated individual, employment provides more than a paycheck it provides purpose, responsibility, and hope. It allows participants to:
• Earn honest wages through legitimate employment.
• Pay court-ordered fines, fees, and restitution.
• Continue supporting their families while they remain incarcerated.
• Keep up with financial obligations, reducing the risk of falling behind on rent, utilities, vehicle payments, or other essential bills.
• Build savings that can help them restart their lives upon release instead of leaving jail with nothing but the clothes on their back.
• Develop work history, job skills, and relationships with employers that may lead to permanent employment after release.

For our local businesses, this program helps address workforce shortages while providing motivated individuals an opportunity to prove themselves.

For our community, the benefits extend even further.

When people leave incarceration with work experience, savings, and a plan for the future, they are in a better position to become self-sufficient. Stronger financial stability can reduce reliance on public resources, help families remain intact, and increase the likelihood that individuals successfully transition back into the community.

Our goal is simple:

Accountability. Responsibility. Opportunity.

We are looking for local employers willing to partner with us by providing meaningful employment opportunities in fields such as restaurants, agriculture, poultry operations, construction, electrical, heavy equipment, lawn maintenance, mechanics, warehousing, cleaning services, retail, office support, and many more.

A second chance doesn’t erase past mistakes but it can help build a better future.

⚠️ HEAT ADVISORY FOR CRENSHAW COUNTY ⚠️

The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to take the upcoming extreme heat seriously. Heat index values are expected to reach 105°-110°, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors. Heat-related illnesses can develop quickly, especially during the hottest part of the day.

☀️ Protect Yourself & Your Family:

* Drink plenty of water throughout the day even if you don’t feel thirsty.
* Limit outdoor work and strenuous activities between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM when temperatures are at their highest.
* Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
* Take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned location if you must work outside.
* Never leave children, elderly adults, or pets unattended in a vehicle even for a minute. Interior temperatures can become deadly within minutes.
* Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may not have reliable air conditioning.
* Ensure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade, and avoid walking them on hot pavement that can burn their paws.

🚨 Know the Warning Signs
If someone becomes dizzy, weak, nauseated, confused, or stops sweating, move them to a cooler place immediately, begin cooling them, and call 911 if symptoms are severe. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.

Your safety is our priority. Please use caution over the next several days, make smart decisions, and look out for one another.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.

We ask everyone to keep the Roberts family in your thoughts and prayers. Will was a very courageous young man who’s faith never wavered and touched the lives of many people.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Will Roberts, the son of ALEA SBI Captain Jason and Brittney Roberts, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

While words cannot fully capture the depth of this loss, we also recognize the powerful impact Will had on those around him. Through his unwavering faith in Jesus, he was a source of strength, hope and inspiration to many. His courage and trust in the Lord, even in the face of unimaginable challenges, touched lives far beyond his years and left a lasting imprint on all who followed his journey.

As an Agency family, we stand together in offering our deepest condolences, prayers and unwavering support to them during this incredibly difficult time.

We ask that you keep the Roberts family in your thoughts and prayers.

The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the WMU Women of Chapel Baptist Hill Church for their thoughtful gift basket and words of encouragement in appreciation of our first responders.

Acts of kindness like this serve as a powerful reminder that our community stands behind those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving others. Your generosity, prayers, and support mean more than words can express not only to our deputies and staff, but to every first responder who answers the call each day.

We are especially grateful for the reminder found in Colossians 3:17:
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord.”

Thank you for taking the time to recognize the men and women who serve Crenshaw County. Your thoughtfulness lifts spirits, strengthens hearts, and reminds us why we proudly wear the badge.
