The traffic lights at the intersection of STH 54 and CTH AB are in the red flashing mode which means everybody has to stop and treat it like a four-way stop. The department of transportation has been notified. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Very nice job on getting the suspect off the street and in jail.

Overnight last evening, vandals decided to use some white and yellow spray paint in Firemans Park - located on Maple St - to damage the playground equipment and trees. Based on the drawings, my bet is it was adolescent boys behind this. Anyone seeing any kids roaming the streets very late last evening/early today or if you know who was behind this, please let our agency know. Thanks. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Wisconsin Department of Transportation Rules and pointers for pedestrians and drivers

As you drive through the Village and especially on Main Street where there are numerous marked pedestrian crossings, please be aware that persons standing at the curb or just into the street may be wanting to cross the street. Drivers must always yield to pedestrians who are crossing the highway within a marked or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection where there are no traffic lights or control signals. For those pedestrians who are waiting to cross, please give them the safe opportunity to do so.

here is the Wisconsin DOT link for rules and pointers for pedestrians and drivers. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Reminder for Racing Fans and Village residents: This Sunday, July 18, the races at the 'Burg Speedway will be drawing a larger crowd and driver pool; with larger transport rigs and from father away. The east gate of the Fairgrounds, as well as Elm Street and Third Streets, most likely may be backed up with rigs, due to the pit area gate relocation for that date. Please use the Fourth St fairgrounds entrance to help with this congestion and if you do not have to travel the adjacent streets, don't. Thank you. ~ Chief Gulbrand.

REMINDER: The County Fair Parade is tomorrow morning beginning at 1130 AM, starting at Main and Church Rd and following the below route to the Fairgrounds. There is NO PARKING on the route. If a vehicle is found on the route we will try to contact the owner, but anytime after 10:45, IT WILL BE TOWED AWAY AT YOUR EXPENSE.

Second Street between Elm and Cedar Streets becomes one way

The day will be beautiful. Get to your viewing positions early to avoid traffic and stop down at the Fair later. Church Rd and Main Street is always extremely busy before the parade so avoid that area if you can. ~ Chief Gulbrand

06/21/2021

ATV/UTV use on certain village streets has been approved by the Village Board under Chapter 4.13 and will be activated no later than this Friday, following the posting of the required route signage (see attached route plan).

ATV users must travel to and from residences by the shortest path to access the nearest route. If you don't see a ATV Route sign usually within two blocks, you are not on an approved route.

Village routes connect with Township routes and allow ATV travel through the village, though there is no true north/south route through the village due to street design and village layout. This means NO ATV/UTV TRAVEL using Main St between Heritage Rd and Northbrook Rd.

Other important guidelines are:

1. NO ATV OPERATION IS EVER ALLOWED ON STH 54/Center Dr, CTH AB/Main St, or CTH A/Church Rd.

2. Drivers MUST be 16 years of age and have a valid drivers license.

3. Drivers born after January 1, 1988 must complete an ATV Safety Course. The online training link is: https://www.atvcourse.com/usa/wisconsin/

4. All operators must have liability insurance.

5. All general ATV rules in place under WI State Statute 23, including proper registration, are still in place. See this link for current laws:https://dnr.wi.gov/files/pdf/pubs/le/le0500.pdf

Please click on this link for the full ATV ordinance wording here:http://www.luxemburgusa.com/assets/info-services_54_3410256342.pdf

Click on this link for the ATV Route map:http://www.luxemburgusa.com/assets/info-services_55_1305068832.pdf

Please enjoy this opportunity and obey the ordinance. Officers will be considerate to ATV/UTV users as we all learn through this change in local law, but blatant disregard or reckless behavior won't be tolerated.

In the late evening hours of Saturday or the early morning hours of Sunday, June 6, there was an attempted entry to Northbrook Golf and Grill. Suspect(s) were eventually able to enter only a small portion of the building. Two unlocked automobiles, located on Mueller Ct in the Northbrook subdivision, had also been entered. There was no entry of any residences.

If you live in the area and have doorbell video of anyone suspicious on that evening/morning, please call Sheriff dispatch at 920-388-7108. As a reminder, if you leave you vehicles outside overnight, please lock your car doors and do not leave anything valuable in sight sight.

As the weather gets warmer, more people are out exercising and walking their dogs, including on the Ahnapee Trail. As a reminder to all dog walkers, village ordinance 11.05(3)(g) says:

No person shall permit any cat or dog owned by him/her to defecate upon any property not owned by such person without the consent of such other property owner or upon any public property, without immediately removing the f***s left by the cat or dog.

It is unfortunate but some persons do not respect other's property and don't pick up after their dogs. Please bring a plastic bag along and immediately pick up after your animals. Thank you. ~ Chief Gulbrand

So, as a reminder to all, ATV's and UTV's are NOT ALLOWED to travel on village streets. The county ordinance does not apply to local municipalities. ~ Chief Gulbrand

UPDATE: The local trash pickup service unintentionally damaged the mailboxes. They plan on repairing them today (Friday). Thanks for all of your sharing of the post.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at approximately 1:00 PM, an older, rusty, blue Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on Prairie Ln and south of Marcks Ln and struck five mailboxes along the west side of the street. This truck should have damage to the right front end area. If you have any information on the vehicle or driver, please call the Luxemburg Police Department at 920-845-5381 - reference incident 20-08619. Thank You.
