Recently, numerous persons with vehicles have been cutting through and trespassing on private property; driving from Hillside Dr. to Ash St. The official map is below, with the area circled. While sections of curb and gutter are on each end of the route and contrary to what Google Maps show, there is no through street. There is also a sawbuck placed on Hillside Dr indicating private property. Stop using the cut through. as you are trespassing under Village Ordinance 11.01(15)(d). ~ Chief Chris Gulbrand

The Luxemburg Bluejays baseball tournament started last night at the Community and Legion Fields. It will run Friday night and all day Saturday - with Sunday as a rain date. Please drive with care on Elm, Second, and Third Streets, as you pass the parks.

Stop in and enjoy watching the teams play and have some food and refreshments. They reinvest what they make in profits right back into the teams and facilities.

The Fair Parade is Sunday, July 10, at 11:30 AM.

Here are a few reminders:
If your vehicle is left on the parade route (Main St/Robin Ln north to Ralph St, west to First, south to Elm west to Third St) and you are unable to be contacted, it will be removed at your expense.

Come early to get a parking spot. If you are late and park your vehicle illegally, it will be ticketed and possibly towed.

Second Street between Elm St and Cedar St becomes ONE WAY TRAFFIC SOUTHBOUND during the parade and immediately after. This is due to extreme pedestrian congestion after the parade. There will be signage in place. ~ Chief Gulbrand

The Police Department is investigating graffiti written on the top of the slide at Firemans Park. It was written in blue and black marker and was probably put there about 10-14 days ago. Unfortunately, there was also vulgar language included in the graffiti.
If you know who was involved or who would have information on the graffiti, please message me or contact our agency at 920-845-5381 in reference to law incident 22-03256. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Over the last two nights, there have been two instances of the egging of cars in their owner's yards; one on Maria St and the other on Third St. One happened after midnight. These juvenile pranks cause the owners grief with cleaning up the mess. If you have knowledge of who is doing this, feel free to contact the department or message me. If you happen to be out and about in the middle of the night and see something that just isn't right, call 911 and report it. Thanks. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Are you missing one of your chickens? For almost the last week, the pictured poultry has been hanging around the West Haven Court area, which is just southeast of Family Dollar. It is probably from a neighboring farm, as poultry are not allowed in the Village. If it is yours or you know who's it is, please let us know. If you want to make arrangements to come and capture it if no one claims it, that would be great too. Thank you. Chief Gulbrand

The snowfall last evening stopped fairly late before work traffic started, so Village streets - excluding Main St and Center Dr - are covered with 4+ inches of puffy snow. County crews will be out soon to clean the streets. There should be no problems getting around but as always, please drive in accordance with the road conditions. Thanks ~ Chief Gulbrand

Apparently, people in a rush to get to Kwik Trip have been running the stop sign at Commerce and Second St to enter the west driveway. I am hoping that are only inobservant and not running the stop sign intentionally. Either way, Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign is a $175.30 forfeiture or $767.50 if you cause injuries involving great bodily harm. ~ Chief Gulbrand

As a reminder, there is no overnight parking on the street between 2AM and 6AM until April 1. There is little to no problems with citizens abiding by the ordinance.

With an alleged "big" storm hitting us tonight and into this
weekend, I have to ask everyone to remove your vehicles from the streets prior to the snow plows or graders hitting the streets. If they are left in the way, they will either get "plowed in" and/or may be towed at your expense. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Main Street will not be closed during this time but we will be diverting traffic off of it as the parade travels north.

We hope everyone enjoys the homecoming festivities safely this weekend. Our department, as well as Sheriff’s Department, will be out and about to keep the weekend safe. Go Spartans!

I have received complaints of speeding on the part of Heritage Rd that is currently under construction. Heritage Rd is still considered closed - except for local traffic - which means those who live on that stretch. It is currently rough gravel and the curb and gutter will be poured soon. Please take the extra few minutes and drive around on STH 54 rather than cut through to CTH AB/Main St. Thank you. ~ Chief Gulbrand

09/13/2021

Recently, the US Post Office moved their drop off boxes from their parking lot to the south curb of Peter St, to facilitate parking for vehicles in their lot. This has generated some issues related to drivers crossing into the other lane and dropping off their letters from the drivers side window.

There is no provision where you may legally do this. If you do this and cause a crash or generate a complaint from another driver, you put yourself at risk of being cited for Operating Left of Center. And no, the Police Department will not park there and try to catch people and issue them a citation. I suggest either getting out of your car and drop them in or slide across the front seat and drop them in from the passengers window. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Very nice job on getting the suspect off the street and in jail.

08/13/2021

Overnight last evening, vandals decided to use some white and yellow spray paint in Firemans Park - located on Maple St - to damage the playground equipment and trees. Based on the drawings, my bet is it was adolescent boys behind this. Anyone seeing any kids roaming the streets very late last evening/early today or if you know who was behind this, please let our agency know. Thanks. ~ Chief Gulbrand

Wisconsin Department of Transportation Rules and pointers for pedestrians and drivers

As you drive through the Village and especially on Main Street where there are numerous marked pedestrian crossings, please be aware that persons standing at the curb or just into the street may be wanting to cross the street. Drivers must always yield to pedestrians who are crossing the highway within a marked or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection where there are no traffic lights or control signals. For those pedestrians who are waiting to cross, please give them the safe opportunity to do so.
