Update: Back in July, this tiny little kitten on the desk was found wandering around the village. Dr. Lori at 4 Legged Friends took her into the CLAWS program, which supports care and adoption for abandoned cats. Seven months later, her name is Olivia, she is healthy and she sits on Chief’s shoulder quite often. ❤️ The CLAWS program always accepts donations of cat litter, kitten chow or money to help the next cat family out. Burglary at Luxemburg Pet Clinic, 607 Center Dr.

Burglary believed to have occurred on Monday, 02/17/20, around 0200 hours. Entry was gained to a locked south door of the clinic by use of a pry tool of some sort.

Prescription drugs for animals were removed from locked storage and taken. These drugs may be in higher doses than humans can tolerate so it may be dangerous for people to ingest these.

Anyone with any information on this burglary, on persons walking about the Village early this morning or the person(s) responsible, please contact the Luxemburg Police Department at 920-845-5381.If no one answers the phone, it will transfer to Sheriff dispatch.

As of Monday, Car 20, a 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility has been placed in service. Every 5 years, squad cars get cycled out. This unit replaces a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria which was the backup squad.

A Statewide Silver Alert has been issued for John Meyers, age 83, described as White, Male, Height 5'10", Weight 175 lbs, with green eyes, white short hair, a tattoo of a palm tree on his left forearm, a tattoo of a heart with the words "mom and dad" on his right forearm. Mr. Meyers was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray sweatshirt, and a black winter jacket. He was last seen 12/10/2019 at approximately 10:30am at the VA Clinic in Green Bay, WI. On Thursday, December 5, there will be No Parking allowed on the SOUTH side of Heritage Rd between County Highway AB/North Main Street and Prairie Ln. Signage will be in place. This is to facilitate an overflow crowd at St John's Lutheran Church in the evening. Parking is allowed only on the north side of the road, which is immediately adjacent to the church parking lot. SIREN TEST! Kewaunee County Emergency Management would like to make residents aware that there will be a 3-minute siren test on Wednesday, Nov. 6th at approximately NOON. This is part of routine annual maintenance on sirens located both within the Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) of Point Beach Nuclear Plant and outside of the EPZ. There is no reason for concern. **update** The Village of Luxemburg lost power at 2:40 on Monday afternoon thanks to three outages. In total, roughly three-thousand people were affected. Approximately 2,900 had power restored by 5 PM with the last outage resolved after 7 PM. Wisconsin Public Service Communications Specialist Matt Cullen says WPS helped resolve the problems that originated from a transmission line failure.

The line is operated by American Transmission Company, a regional power provider. Transmission lines deliver power from plants to local substations. Schools, businesses, and homes were all affected.

On January 8, 2019, the Main Street Crossing was victimized by an armed robber. On September 30, 2019, the offender, Jaccob Porter Pate, was found guilty of armed robbery in Kewaunee County Circuit Court and sentenced to 6 years in prison and 6 years of extended supervision.

There is now posted standing/parking restrictions in the 1400 block of Main Street, across the street from St. Mary’s School. All student drop off/pickup must be done on the east side of Main Street or on Hickory Street. “Responding beyond the call of duty Police Officer Ronald Leist sacrificed his life in a heroic attempt to rescue a drowning man in the Algoma Harbor on October 9, 1969”

Let us never forget Officer Leist and the sacrifice he made to save another.

The Door County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Silver Alert for 80 year-old Don G. Pardonner. Mr. Pardonner was last seen on 10-02-19 on Grove Rd. in the township of Liberty Grove. He is described as 5’9, 164 lbs. with white hair and blue eyes. Mr. Pardonner wears glasses and it is not known what he was wearing. He was seen driving a black 2005 Honda CRV, Wisconsin registration B0RNFR. The vehicle does not have a cover on the rear spare tire.

The Luxemburg-Casco High School homecoming parade is tomorrow night, Friday, October 4 at 4:30 PM. It will travel north from Robin Lane to the high school. Traffic will be diverted off of Main Street. Please take the time to line Main Street to enjoy the parade or avoid Main Street all together. We wish everyone an enjoyable time at the football game on Friday night, as well as a safe, fun and memorable homecoming dance on Saturday. Go Spartans!

Our department is seeking to contact Russell A. "Russ" Nordquist in reference to an incident that occured in Seymour last week. He may be in the Shawano County area. Weapon Offense

Incident # 19-06790

Luxemburg, WI – On Monday, September 2nd at approximately 3:25 PM, the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a male party who stated he was working on his roof when he heard a gun shot and a bullet “wiz” past him. The complaint was able to get a description of a vehicle in the area of the gun shot. The complaint then got down from the roof and was able to locate the vehicle and get a license plate.

Officers from our agency along with the Luxemburg Police Department were able to locate the vehicle. Subsequent interviews and a search of the vehicle involved lead to the identification of four individuals who were in the vehicle. The individuals were four juvenile males from the Luxemburg area between the ages of 15 and 16.

The juveniles were found to be drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana at the time of the incident. They admitted to shooting at several street signs in the area as well as in Brown County. They also shot at and struck a local business.

Charges will be referred on the four juveniles involved; however the incident remains under investigation by our agency.

**Update - Vehicle and driver have been located**

Hit and run

We are currently looking for a vehicle most likely a mini van, involved in a hit and run south of Algoma in the early morning hours of Monday, 9/2/19. The vehicle appeared to have rolled over the guardrail and should have significant damage including a missing headlight as well as several broken windows. Witnesses said that a large tractor was seen at the incident location removing the vehicle from the ditch. If you have any information regarding this incident please call the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department at 920-388-7108 reference law number 19-06781.

UPDATE: No one claimed the dog and it was most likely running loose for days. The dog was surrendered to the Wisconsin Humane Society-Green Bay Campus this morning. It will be quarantined for 10 days as it had broken the skin on a bite to a human.

We have a lost dog that was just recovered on Pine Tree Lane. It has a dark blue collar with dog bones design. It is a very nervous animal. If it is yours please call the Sheriff’s Dept at 920-388-7108 and they will contact our officer on duty.

** Attempted Scam **

The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department received a report that someone was attempting to pose as an Officer with the Luxemburg Police Department.

The individual claiming to be a Luxemburg Police Officer was reported to have a very heavy accent and claimed his name was Jason leading the caller to believe this was fictitious. The call was ended after the caller believed it was a scam, however the number called back again and became more demanding.

Please share the information around as the Kewaunee Police Department also had similar complaint where a letter was used in an attempt to solicit funds.

As a follow up post on the Fair Parade only two days away, we wish to remind all that Second Street between Elm and Cedar Streets will be routed ONE WAY ONLY - after the first parade units reach the end of the parade until 2-230PM. This is a change from the original time of the beginning of the parade and will allow movement through the village for a longer time. With the County Fair Parade only six days away, we would like to make all citizens aware that Second Street between Elm and Cedar Streets will be routed ONE WAY ONLY southbound, from the start of the parade until approximately 2PM. Signage will be in place at those intersections, as well as Willow St. This will facilitate safer movement for all floats and pedestrians, following the parade. You may park northbound on Second Street near the softball field but understand you will not be allowed to leave against traffic. ~ Chief Gulbrand
