The members of Liberty Hose Company No. 2 have made the decision to not hold our Fireman’s Carnival (Block Party) this year. There are multiple reasons for this decision:

- Lack of available volunteers. We are relying on less manpower to perform more work every year. The manpower we do have we want to be able to concentrate on preparing for and responding to emergencies rather than taking 1-2 months preparing for and cleaning up from Block Party.

- Very reduced attendance and profits. In recent years there are less people turning out for these types of events. We have reached a point where it no longer makes financial sense to invest so much time of our valuable people and their families.

- Difficulty booking rides and other 3rd party attractions. Finding a ride outfit has become very difficult due to the size of the event. Unfortunately, our Block Party is just not large enough to be worth it for the few outfits that are out there. The same applies to other vendors and forms of entertainment.

This event has been part of the history of Liberty Hose Company for over 100 years. We did not come to this decision lightly. However, we are excited for the new ways this will allow us to interact with the public. There will be events held at our Block Party grounds in the future, and you have not seen the last of the food we all love. Thank you to everyone that has and continues to support us, you’re what makes this town such a great place! Our goal is to always find to best way to accomplish our mission, which is to save lives and protect property.
