Yesterday many of our fire fighters attended this training put on by Vehicle Response Training to learn about Electric Vehicles. This was a great training that taught us what to do with electric vehicle fires and crashes. Electric vehicles have to be treated very differently from your standard cars. If you ever see fire fighters taking their time around them it is for a very good reason, to keep themselves safe and everyone else safe. Thank you again for the great opportunity and to Adams Fire Dept for hosting!

Definitely a snow storm worth paying attention to! Sunday most likely won't be a good travel day.

🚨 Winter Storm Alert for Mower County 🚨

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office would like to give residents an early heads-up as two powerful winter storms are expected to impact our area this weekend, with the most significant impacts likely Sunday morning through Monday morning.

Current forecasts are predicting snowfall totals of 6 inches or more, though exact amounts may change as the storm track continues to fluctuate. Strong winds and heavy snowfall could lead to hazardous travel conditions, reduced visibility, and snow-covered roads.

⚠️ Now is the time to prepare:
• Consider adjusting weekend travel plans.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during the peak of the storm.
• Make sure vehicles have fuel and winter emergency supplies.
• Check on family members, neighbors, and those who may need assistance.

Our staff will be working throughout the storm to keep our communities safe. Please stay weather aware, monitor local forecasts, and follow updates from local officials.

Additional updates will be provided as the storm approaches.

Stay safe and weather aware.

Travel is not advised tonight. If you go in the ditch or get stuck you might have to spend the night in your vehicle.

Marshal Christian Johnson
Lyle Police Department, Minnesota
End of Watch Thursday, October 5, 1922

It was 103 years ago on October 5th 1922 Lyle Marshal Johnson was shot and killed in the line of duty by a drunk man that he had escorted home earlier in the evening. After leaving on friendly terms the drunk man became upset and told his wife he was going to kill the marshal. He grabbed his .45 caliber pistol and located Marshal Johnson and shot him. The suspect then fled to his sister's home where he shot and killed himself. The suspect had lost the election to be Town Marshal to Marshal Johnson and held a grudge even though he served as Assistant Marshal.
Marshal Johnson was 66 years old at the time of his death and had been with the agency for only two years. He was survived by his wife, six sons, and two daughters.
Marshal Johnson and his families sacrifice will never forgotten.
