A group of our volunteer firefighters participated in training exercises at the Bingen training lot today, where they utilized two donated vehicles to practice rescue operations. The vehicles were donated by individuals from Old Hwy 8 and the BZ area, and we are thankful for their generosity. We would also like to express our appreciation to Greentree Towing of Hood River for their support in collecting the vehicles and transporting them to the training site, as well as for their assistance in disposing of the vehicles after the training. Our volunteers' commitment to training and preparedness is reflected in their dedication over the weekend.

This morning, our new Lyle firefighters joined senior firefighters for hands-on training at Bingen's training lot. The team practiced deploying structure hose off of main engine 401, repeating the exercise multiple times to ensure proficiency. Tomorrow, the firefighters will reconvene for further training on various techniques. We appreciate the dedication of our volunteer firefighters in dedicating their weekend to mastering these valuable skills.

At 4:22 pm we're paged out to a fire north of Old Hwy 8. B-412 that is stationed in the area was first on scene. Located the grass fire north of McClain Tuthill Rd and requested mutual aid from surrounding fire districts. Our Assistant Chief was second on scene establishing command, sized up the fire in a hay field around 20 acres, and requested more resources. Multiple departments answered the call for help including Bingen Fire, WKRFA, High Prairie Fire, Dallesport Fire, Klickitat Fire, Appleton Fire, Wahkiacus Fire, Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue, DNR, USFS, and KCSO. Approximately 30 fire apparatus responded, including brush trucks, engines, tenders, hand crew's, and command pickups. Fire command recommended that lower end of Lyle-Snowden Rd be put on a Level 1 (Be Ready). Half of the time the wind was pushing the fire east and towards the end the wind pushed it down a couple drainage to the south. Crew's made quick work of getting the fire knocked down in the open field. A couple hazards were soft area's due to springs and rock boulders. Brush trucks, engines, and attack tenders knocked the flames out as the hand crew's established a hand line starting on the south flank. Fire district volunteers units started mop up and were released as DNR took over for the evening with USFS. We want to thank all the mutual aid help from our neighboring fire districts and appreciate DNR & USFS for working together to knock this fire down quickly as possible.
