UPDATE: LYME - ROUTE 156 REOPENED

Per CSP, 156 reopened to through traffic post the motor vehicle accident earlier today that severed a utility pole that serves as the backbone for local power distribution.

Thanks to Eversource Energy, Frontier Communications, and Xfinity utility crews for working aggressively as an integrated response team to repair the severely damaged infrastructure so quickly.

Of note was that the work performed today was done without major disruption of electrical services.

Road closed to all traffic due to a motor vehicle accident (MVA) involving utilities.

Eversource and Frontier Communications on scene, road to remain fully closed for the remainder of the day. Seek alternate routes.

Bypass:

Joshuatown Road to Tantumorantum Road (right turn) to Mount Archer (right turn) to Route 156 (left turn)

UPDATE: LYME - CTDOT WORK ON ROUTE 156

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has started the pavement preservation on Route 156 in Lyme. The painted markings on the road indicate repair sections and specific roadway crack/damage repairs.

Portions of Route 156, Route 82 and Hadlyme Four Corners are currently closed due to downed power lines. Mt. Archer Road is open.

(Route 156 is closed at the south end of Bill Hill Road.)

Downed wires present serious dangers. Please do not drive around cones.

Eversource is aware of the power outages in town.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then showers likely. Areas of fog before 2am. Low around 37. Breezy, with a south wind 18 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

UPDATED: LYME - CTDEEP PLANNED CONTROLLED BURN IN NEHANTIC STATE PARK

This coming Friday, April 17th, weather and conditions pending, from 8am to 12pm, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CTDEEP) will be conducting a controlled burn in Nehantic State Park in Lyme.
