LYME PUBLIC SAFETY BULLETIN

A reminder to Lyme residents to lock vehicles at night and secure front doors for your own safety.

With the era of more package deliveries, often performed in personal vehicles, it is hard to determine a delivery service versus someone who might be assessing a property for vulnerabilities.

Also, recently, there have been reports of mailboxes and mail being accessed or stolen within town. If you suspect that your mailbox has been accessed illegally, which is a federal offense, report stolen mail immediately online through the ⁠United States Postal Inspection Service or by calling 1-877-876-2455.

No wires involved and road still open. Use caution.

Tonight:

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Low around 70. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday:

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8am and 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Hamburg Road fully closed at #170 due to a severe motor vehicle accident. Lyme Fire Company, Lyme Ambulance Association, Connecticut State Police-Troop F Westbrook and LIFE STAR on scene.

Bypass road is Cove Road or Beaverbrook Road for Eastern traffic.

Expect the road to be closed until 9pm.
