Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is a time to remember, with gratitude and pride, those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As Americans, we must never forget the courage, selflessness, and dedication of those who left their families, homes, and futures behind in service to this great country. Their sacrifice will forever stand as a testament to the true cost of freedom.

The members of the Lynbrook Police Department proudly remember and honor all who served and died for our country. We salute our fallen heroes and keep their memory alive today and always.

Buckle up every trip, every time.
Seat belt laws will be actively enforced.

Driving isn’t a game, especially on 4/20.

Don’t drive high, it could cost lives. Your reaction time slows, your focus drops, and the risk isn’t just to you, but everyone on the road.

If you don’t see it coming, you can’t avoid it. Don’t drive distracted.

On land or water, distractions can be deadly. Keep your eyes on the road.

Taking your eyes off the road—even for a moment—can mean missing what’s right in front of you. Stay focused behind the wheel.

April 9–13
You will see an increased police presence actively enforcing texting and distracted-driving laws.

Put the phone away or pay.

On April 6, 2026, at approximately 4:30 PM, a female resident was walking on a side street when she was approached by a couple in a white SUV.

The couple asked the resident for directions to the nearest grocery store. While the resident was assisting, the female passenger exited the vehicle and placed a ring on the resident’s finger and a necklace around her neck.

This unexpected gesture caused the resident to feel uncomfortable, and she began to walk away. Shortly after, she realized that her 18k gold necklace with a diamond pendant had been removed and was missing.

⚠️ This is part of an ongoing distraction larceny pattern reported in Nassau County, including here in Lynbrook.

Lynbrook Police Department reminds residents:
• Be cautious when approached by strangers, even if they appear friendly
• Avoid allowing unknown individuals into your personal space
• Do not accept unsolicited items or jewelry
• Take note of vehicle details (make, model, color, license plate)
• Observe and remember physical descriptions of those involved

If you experience or witness a similar incident, contact the Lynbrook Police Department immediately.

Stay alert. Stay aware. Help keep our community safe.

🍀 There’s no luck in drunk driving.

This St. Patrick’s Day, plan a safe ride home instead of leaving it to chance.
🔑 Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

Nighttime driving during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday is especially dangerous. In 2023, 32% of drivers involved in fatal crashes between 6:00 PM and 5:59 AM were drunk. Even more alarming, 41% of drivers involved in fatal crashes between midnight and 2:59 AM were impaired.

Celebrate responsibly.
Designate a sober driver.
Use a rideshare or call for a ride.

Let’s work together to make sure everyone gets home safely. 🍀
