Each year, our Board of Directors selects a recipient of Miriam’s House’s prestigious Elizabeth M. Forsyth Community Service Award. Named after one of our co-founders, this award allows us to honor an individual who embodies the same legacy of service, commitment, and lasting impact.

We are proud to announce that our 2026 EMF Award recipient is BJ McGraw!

BJ has been a dedicated supporter of Miriam’s House for over thirty years, serving first on the Board of Directors from 1997 to 2001 and then again from 2016 to the present. Her years of steadfast leadership, generosity, and commitment to Miriam’s House have helped shape a stronger, more compassionate Lynchburg.

We were honored to present BJ with this award at our 27th Annual Luncheon in May.

Our new Family Shelter and Community First program are quickly moving homeless families into housing but we need your help! It can sometimes take weeks or more to secure a bed for each person in the family and in the meantime, an air mattress is a wonderful solution to sleeping on the floor. Consider visiting our Amazon wish list and purchasing us an air mattress. Our families and all of us will be so grateful!
