We serve adults who reside in Central Virginia, are uninsured or underinsured, and who have income less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Individuals are considered underinsured if their health insurance does not cover the medically necessary service they are requesting, or if there is a demonstrated community-wide lack of access to care.

In this time of crisis, it is important for organizations to be able to adapt. The Free Clinic is responding by implementing telehealth so that patients who are not able to come to the clinic may still have their regular healthcare concerns addressed. This is just one of the many ways in which the Free Clinic is responding and helping to create a healthier community.

It is with great sadness that we report that Caroline Hudson, our Director of Development, passed away this evening after suffering a seizure. Caroline was dedicated to the mission of the Free Clinic, and was tireless in her work to create the resources we need to fulfill it. She was a friend to so many in the non-profit community in Lynchburg. Her work has made our city a better place.

Please keep her family and friends in your hearts, and hope that they find moments of comfort in the coming days.

The Importance of Community and Mental Health | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness

Mental health heavily influences our quality of life. So it makes sense that mental health, just like physical health, needs to be taken care of and maintained. And one way that it can be maintained is through finding a sense of community.

Community can be defined in many ways, but when simplified down to its most important element, community is all about connection. Feeling like you belong, and like you're a part of something, can be very beneficial to your mental health.

I have been approved for dental care. I have now lost all my teeth and they were so good to me. I will always be appreciative of the service I received.
