All City of Lynchburg municipal offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, with the winter storm continuing to drop sleet Sunday evening and with frigid temperatures forecasted for the start of the week that will prolong the impact of this storm.

Public Works crews, with assistance from Water Resources, have been conducting around-the-clock snow plowing and ice control operations since 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening, prioritizing primary and secondary streets. While all primary roads have been salted and plowed multiple times, the frigid temperatures and continuous accumulation are resulting in still-slick roads. Crews will remain on rotating 12-hour shifts until road conditions improve. Residents are asked to be patient while crews do their work and are advised to stay off the roads if possible.

Lynchburg Human Services will have a delayed opening! We will open at 10:00 am. See you then and be safe!

Are we in Groundhog Day? Because we are calling for another delayed opening for City offices!

We know that overnight temperatures will drop into the low teens, and any remaining moisture will freeze, creating icy, slick roads tonight and into Tuesday morning. Please stay off the roads if possible. If you must travel, slow down and allow extra time.

Informarion to keep in mind for Tuesday, Dec. 9:
• City offices open at 10:00 a.m.
• Public Works crews will continue treating and plowing overnight.
• Trash: If your can wasn’t collected Monday, leave it at the curb for pickup as conditions allow.
• GLTC: Service ends at 8:15 p.m. tonight (last transfer departures at 7:15 p.m.).
• Downtown residents: Park in City-owned decks (free Monday & Tuesday evenings) to help with street clearing.
• Personal property tax is due Tuesday (online, kiosk, or City Hall drop box; teller windows open at 10:00 a.m.).

Warming Center: The Salvation Army, 2215 Park Ave., opens nightly with a hot meal at 4:30 p.m. and will be open during daytime hours Tuesday.
