🏆 1,825 days—and counting—of perfect permit compliance.

Lynchburg Water Resources’ Water Resource Recovery Facility has earned the Platinum Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), recognizing five consecutive years with zero permit violations.

The WRRF is one of just 180 wastewater treatment plants nationwide to receive Platinum-level honors for 2025.

Behind this achievement is a dedicated team of 43 employees working around the clock to protect our community and the James River. This team treats approximately 12 million gallons of wastewater daily while conducting thousands of tests annually and maintaining the complex systems that ensure clean water is safely returned to the river.

Congratulations to the WRRF team on this national recognition—and thank you for the work you do 24/7 for Lynchburg and the James River.

That's a wrap on a week at Waterbugs Camp, where no fish is too small and no bug is too big! This free annual camp hosted by Lynchburg Water Resources' education and outreach team promotes outdoor skills, STEM education, and an appreciation for our environment with girls ages 9-13.

Throughout the week campers were challenged to try something new. Some of their favorite activities were catching fish, kayaking, searching for aquatic insects, and a plaster art project.

This year, LWR partnered with Jackson Heights Art Studio to provide a day of artistic nature appreciation. The campers used plant cuttings gathered on a nature walk to make plaster impressions, painted ceramic frogs, and used watercolor to create a sunset landscape.
