This post is about a state in India named Mizoram. The residents of Mizoram are ethnically Chinese, but legally Indian. I was fortunate to visit Mizoram a few years ago and met the most amazing people. India's adoption program is very diverse and legally structured through CARA. We are advocating for Cassie, a 13-year-old girl who is developmentally on track physically and demonstrates age-appropriate motor skills, independence, and self-care abilities. She is active, enjoys sports, arts, and group activities, and connects well with peers and adults.

Cassie has a history of early instability and emotional adversity, which has impacted her emotional regulation, attention, and learning consistency. She can be impulsive at times and benefits from supportive, structured guidance and stable caregiving relationships. She is sociable, expressive, and eager to connect, though she is still developing stronger coping skills and emotional vocabulary.

Academically, she is enrolled in 7th grade but has had inconsistent school attendance and needs ongoing support with motivation and focus. She does best in hands-on and creative subjects such as physical education, art, and technology.

Cassie has been informed about adoption and, after initial hesitation, has become more open to the possibility with appropriate reassurance and support. She would benefit greatly from a committed, patient family who can provide stability, encouragement, and consistent emotional connection.

Executive Director Debbie Price was thrilled to attend Addison's Graduation Party. Addison was adopted from Ethiopia by Tricia Jager, who later became one of CHI's case managers.

We want to know what other CHI children graduated this year. Please share your graduation pictures with us! Grad School, College, High School, Kindergarten, Pre-K (and anything in-between) Graduations are welcome! If you are open to it, let us know where your child is from and when he/she came home.

We are excited to advocate for precious Rhea 💛

Rhea is a young girl with hearing loss who has recently begun receiving proper assessment and hearing support. She spent her early years without access to consistent services and is now in need of a committed, loving family who can provide structure, advocacy, and specialized support for her hearing needs.

With the right family and access to appropriate services, Rhea has strong potential to continue making progress and thrive.
