Maybe you remember Mel from our September 2024 post. Because children are made available to all agencies working in his country, we had hoped he had been adopted as we had not received information on him lately, but sadly Mel still waits for his family to find him. The most recent information we have is from October 2025 and we are seeking an update on how he is doing now.
Mel has diagnoses of hydrocephalus with a functioning shunt placed, post sacral myelomeningocele repair, incontinence, growth and developmental delay, structural epilepsy under treatment, and hip dysplasia. However, we can't quite say he "suffers from" all these conditions as you should see his sweet smile under that smiley face sticker! We have video of him happily waving and saying "Hola!" as well as pictures of him doing art as you see here, writing on a paper pad, and playing on the floor. A September 2025 neurological report states he states his name and age (4 at the time), greets people and smiles, has trunk control, moves by crawling and had not had a seizure since December 2024 at that time.
If you are interested in learning more about Mel and receiving any updated information we receive on him, please contact [email protected]. She is eagerly waiting for a family to adopt Mel!
