It was a special evening as Mayor Ward swore in the newest members of the Lyndhurst Police Department tonight during our meeting of City Council.

Please join us in welcoming Patrol Officers Nicholas Krotine and Robert Hovanes as they begin their careers serving and protecting our community!

We also celebrate the appointment of Michael Scipione as Chief of Police. Since joining the department in 2000, Chief Scipione has dedicated more than 25 years to serving Lyndhurst. We wish him continued success as he leads the department into its next chapter!

This transition follows the retirement of Chief Patrick Rhode on May 22, 2026 after 31 years of distinguished service. We thank Chief Rhode for his leadership and countless contributions to our community throughout his career and wish him a happy and well-deserved retirement.

Congratulations to all and thank you for your dedication and commitment to keeping Lyndhurst safe!

During National Public Works Week, we want to recognize our Lyndhurst Service Department employees and the essential work they do every day to keep our Community of Neighbors safe, clean, and running smoothly!

This year’s theme “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community” highlights the dedication, professionalism, and expertise of those who provide vital services including solid waste collection, recycling, tree maintenance, road repairs, parks and pool operations, snow removal, sewer cleaning, and so much more.

Lyndhurst Service Department employees are highly trained and skilled in many important disciplines that help maintain the quality of life our residents enjoy.

Thank you to all of our public works employees for your commitment and dependable service, which are fundamental to the safe and efficient operation of our City!
