There may be some scattered thunderstorms through 10 AM, then skies will become partly cloudy. A cold front and upper air disturbance will bring a chance for thunderstorms Friday afternoon into Friday evening. Some of the storms on Friday maybe strong to severe. Saturday will be mostly sunny but cooler with highs in the mid 50s north, to lower 60s south. Highs on Sunday will warm into the 60s.

Thunderstorms are likely (60-90%) tonight. Some of these storms could be severe with large hail and damaging winds. Make sure to have your devices charged and ready to alert you if severe weather threatens overnight tonight.

Scattered showers and storms are expected to spread north and east into portions of east central Kansas late this evening into the overnight period. A few of these storms could produce hail to quarter size and 50-60 mph wind gusts. The storms should exit the area before sunrise.

The National Weather Service has placed Osage County in the "High" fire danger category. This means that fires will be difficult to control. Burning should be restricted to early morning or late afternoon. The Burn Ban for Osage County is being rescinded for now, but that may change as weather conditions change. Please have plenty of help and enough resources to control your fire if you choose to burn today.

We may see a record high temperature this afternoon of 88 degrees in Topeka. A cold front will move southeast across the area brining a chance for showers and storms Tuesday night. An upper level disturbance will bring a better chance for storms Wednesday into Thursday morning. There will be a very high fire danger this afternoon and Tuesday afternoon.

Hot and dry conditions, combined with southwest winds early becoming strong northerly winds through the afternoon and evening have prompted a Red Flag Warning

The National Weather Service has placed Osage County in the "Very High" fire category for today, Thursday March 26th. We are also in a "Red Flag" warning. Effective immediately Osage County is in a burn ban until further notice.

The National Weather Service has Osage County in the "High" fire danger category for this afternoon. This means that burning should be done in the early morning or late afternoon hours. At this time we will not be placed in a burn ban but if weather conditions worsen as the day progresses, that may change. If you do choose to burn today, please make sure that you have enough assistance and resources to control your fire.
