CASE NUMBER: 26LV001373 UPDATE #1
OFFICER: Gerrish, Trucott, Renaudette & Chief Harris
AGENCY: Lyndonville Police Dept.
LOCATION: 156 Hill Street --> 199 Depot Street
DATE/TIME: August 25, 2026
VIOLATION: Aggravated Operation without Owners Consent, Possession of Stolen Property (x2), Violation of Conditions of Release (x3), Attempting to Elude, Resisting Arrest
ACCUSED: Joseph Greenwood (46)
RESIDENCE: Homeless, St. Johnsbury, VT
On August 25, 2026, the Lyndonville Police Department received a complaint of a suspicious 2008 Honda Civic with 2 occupants in the parking lot of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lyndonville. A Lyndonville Police Department patrol officer responded and queries of the vehicle license plate en route revealed a stolen vehicle hit in NCIC. The vehicle left the lot as the patrol officer was arriving and the officer went to stop the vehicle on High Street. The vehicle stopped adjacent to 199 Depot Street. A high risk stop was conducted and the operator, Joseph Greenwood (46) initially complied before subsequently choosing to take leg bail. He was brought into custody in the nearby bank parking lot. Further NCIC queries revealed that the license plate was affiliated with a stolen Lexus and the 2008 Honda Civic operated by Greenwood was also reported stolen, as well. A female passenger also took leg bail once Greenwood fled. Greenwood was brought to the Lyndonville Police Department where he was lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or surety. His arraignment is scheduled for August 26, 2026 at 1230 hours.
