TOWN HIGHWAY- PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

The Town of Lyndon Highway/Public Works Department, with 85.25 miles of roads including sixty (60) miles of gravel surface, is seeking qualified candidates for two Highway/Public Works Technician position openings. The positions report directly to the Town Road Foreman and/or the Municipal Administrator. This position requires an individual who enjoys working outdoors, while performing maintenance and repairs on roads, bridges, sidewalks, parks, as well as water, sewer, and stormwater lines. This position allows employees to experience opportunities operating heavy equipment, performing tasks involving manual labor, reading and servicing water meters, and repairing water and sewer lines. We would like the successful candidate to have experience plowing snow, spreading salt, sand, and calcium chloride on roads, operating heavy equipment, and performing light maintenance on equipment, but we are willing to train the right candidate. The ability to interact with the public and work as part of a team in a professional and presentable manner is required. This position is a full-time position, with opportunities for overtime hours, particularly in the winter. A Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class B is required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience operating heavy equipment.

The Town of Lyndon offers a competitive wage starting at a base rate of $25.00/hr. which will be adjusted from there based on experience, licenses currently held. We also offer an excellent benefit package including health care (Blue Cross/Blue Shield Platinum) and retirement (VMERS B). Additionally, the Highway-Public Works Department works a 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday) from April 1st-October 31st and works a 5-day work week the remainder of the year. To all Vermont Registered Voters:

Have you moved or changed your address since the last General Election in November of 2024? If you have please call your Town Clerk's Office to get it updated next week. Around September 1st the Secretary of States Office will pull all information from the Statewide Checklist and will begin mailing out ballots to all registered Voters in mid to late September. We are hoping to save lots of returned or undeliverable ballots.
