Just stop by the library anytime we're open to sign up, pick up a sticker sheet or hourly reading log, and start tracking summer reading.

Congrats to Mike Chadburn, who won the Cobleigh Library Chess Group's Spring chess tournament yesterday evening. Mike won all five of his games played one game per month from January through May. Dr. Lyonel Tracy and David Paulson finished second and third, while St. Johnsbury Academy freshman Russell Desjardins placed fourth after losing a close final round game to tournament winner Chadburn. The Cobleigh Library Chess Group plans to hold another fun, non-rated, one game per month tournament from September through December. All are welcome!

We would like to extend a big thank you to Rochelle Eastman and Barbara Hatch of Passumpsic Bank for stopping by the library yesterday to discuss our upcoming Summer Learning Program. We are very grateful for the support of Passumpsic Bank, which is a wonderful community education partner that has generously sponsored the "Summer Reading Challenge" portion of our summer program for many years now. Starting in June, kids track the number of minutes that they read in order to win a free book of their choice from Green Mountain Books & Prints. Last year alone, Passsumpsic funded the purchase of more than 200 of these prize books! They are truly a friend of the library, and we are very lucky to have them in our community. We are very grateful for the support of StoneCrest Properties, which provided us with $300 to purchase a new computer for our bookmobile. Because of their generosity, Colleen Lariviere (our driver) is now able to check out stories to kids while on board the vehicle. Thank you so much!

We are excited to share that our new bookmobile — also known as the Edie Bell-Brown Bookmobile, which we named after one our past beloved patrons — is officially finished! We picked it up yesterday from Great Big Graphics (a company that wraps vehicles) in Johnson, Vermont. They did a fantastic job!
For those who are interested in seeing the vehicle up close in person, the library will host a Bookmobile launch party on June 19th at 4 pm during the first Family Fun Friday and Summer Reading Program kickoff. We also have plenty of free books & other fun bookmobile-related items to give away to families.
