Yesterday, the Lynn Haven Police Department was proud to swear in our newest officer, Officer Kyler Lucas. We are excited to welcome Officer Lucas to our team and look forward to working alongside him as we continue our mission of keeping Lynn Haven safe.

We also had the opportunity to formally swear in several of our dispatchers who had not previously participated in a swearing-in ceremony. These dedicated professionals are the heroes behind the scenes, serving as the critical link between our citizens and first responders. Congratulations and thank you to Dawn Rogers, Natasha Shedd, Mikayla Hill, and Aliya Shepard.

Additionally, we presented Letters of Commendation to Code Enforcement Officers Brian Freeman and Mike Marsh for going above and beyond in service to our community. Their recognition stemmed from a call in which a citizen took the time to write a detailed letter describing the exceptional assistance they provided. Their commitment to helping others reflects the very best of public service.

We are grateful for every member of our team and for the opportunity to serve and protect the wonderful citizens of Lynn Haven.

We are pleased to welcome Officer Kyler Lucas to the Lynn Haven Police Department.

Officer Lucas joins us from the Fort Lauderdale area and officially began his first day with LHPD today. Kyler is passionate about community policing and is excited about the opportunity to serve the citizens of Lynn Haven.

We are fortunate to have him as part of our team and look forward to the positive impact he will make on our community for many years to come.

**Team Member Spotlight**

This month, the Lynn Haven Police Department is proud to recognize Sergeant Joshua Newsom for his unwavering dedication, servant leadership, and service to both our department and the communities we serve.

Since joining the Lynn Haven Police Department in December 2016, Sgt. Newsom has distinguished himself as a leader who consistently answers the call to serve, whether here at home or wherever help is needed. Through hard work, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence, he has earned the respect of his peers and the community alike.

In 2022, Sgt. Newsom was honored as the Lynn Haven Police Department's Officer of the Year, a reflection of his outstanding performance and dedication to the profession. His service extends beyond our city limits as well. Following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Ian, Sgt. Newsom volunteered to assist the City of North Port, providing critical support during one of the community's most challenging times.

Within our department, Sgt. Newsom plays a vital role as a member of the LHPD SWAT Team and has taken the lead in developing and managing our newly formed Water Operations Unit, helping expand the department's capabilities and readiness to respond to emergencies both on land and on the water. He always volunteers to assist in events such as the Public Safety Touch a Truck, Popsicles with the Police, and Coffee with a Cop.

Sgt. Newsom has also been instrumental in rebuilding and strengthening our department's workforce. Through mentorship, leadership, and a commitment to developing the next generation of officers, he has helped shape the future of the Lynn Haven Police Department and foster a culture of professionalism and teamwork.
His willingness to serve, lead, and support others embodies the values of our organization and the spirit of public service.

What an amazing day at Play It Forward hosted by the United Way of Northwest Florida and Coastal Waste & Recycling! 🎉⚽🏀

Families from across our community came out to enjoy a full day of games, activities, delicious food, and fun for all ages. It was incredible to see so many kids receive free sports gear and equipment, along with access to free sports physicals helping set them up for a healthy and active future.

Events like this truly highlight the power of community. We had such a great time connecting with families, sharing smiles, and being part of something that gives back in such a meaningful way.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special We can’t wait for the next one! 💙 We enjoyed interacting with the families, showing off our equipment and handing out "Popsicles from the Police" thanks to Sam's Club.

Code Enforcement Officers Mike Marsh (left) and Brian Freeman (right) were treated to lunch today at the local dining establishment of their choosing in honor of Code Enforcement Officers' Appreciation Week. Code Enforcement Officers work with homeowners and business owners to help keep our city safe and looking good. They help ensure that local codes and ordinances are followed, protecting property values and promoting safe neighborhoods for residents and businesses alike. Their work often requires professionalism, patience, and strong communication skills as they address concerns and work with community members to find solutions. The efforts of code enforcement officers frequently go unnoticed, but their commitment contributes greatly to creating cleaner, safer, and more welcoming places for everyone

Popsicles with the PoPo 🍧👮

We had a great time visiting with our kids and youth at our parks, basketball courts, and the beach today, along with our seniors at the Senior Center.

Thanks to the generous support of Sam's Club, we were able to treat everyone to popsicles on this warm Florida day.

Building relationships, sharing smiles, and connecting with our community is one of the best parts of what we do. We are grateful for the opportunity to spend time with so many great people and remind everyone that your Lynn Haven Police Department is here to serve, protect, and be part of the community we all call home.
